But it will mess up my swing!

Baseball Update:
Poor A-Rod, it's not easy making $25 million a year. You get judged for not wanting to hurt your team by participating in the homerun derby, then you get linked with Modonna in the tabloids, but don't cry too much for him, he still makes over $25 MILLION A YEAR!

As for the Yankees, they dropped their fourth straight, falling to the Rangers, 3-2 after Mariano Rivera gave up the winning run in the ninth inning.

The Rockies snapped an eight game losing streak thanks to Aaron Cook's first career shutout as Colorado blanked the Padres, 4-0.

J.J. Hardy blasted two out of the park as the Brewers rolled passed the Diamondbacks, 8-6. Hardy's current hot streak strated after a brief rest to help heal his shoulder. Sounds kind of like the Mets David Wright who had a homer of his own in the Mets 7-4 defeat of the Cardinals. Maybe some other players will follow suit and take a day or two off.

Alexei Ramirez hit a towering homer to tie the game at 2 a piece in the 10th, while Orlando Cabrera knocked in the winning run in the White Sox 3-2 defeat of the Indians.

Jeff Kent hit the game winning homer in the 11th to give the Dodgers a 7-6 win over the Astros. Although it wasn't all good news for the Dodgers, shortstop Rafael Furcal had to leave a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas after experiencing discomfort in his lower back. Furcal has been on the DL since May 6th.

Meanwhile the Astros will place Humberto Quintero on the DL after suffering a concussion during Tuesday night's game. Quintero's helmet was struck by a Luis Maza's bat in the second inning.

Collin Balester went five innings allowing just one earned run in his major league debut, picking a win as the Nationals out scored the Marlins, 9-6. Balester got some help from Ronnie Belliard who smashed a grand slam, gave the Nats a 6-1 lead in the sixth which they were able to hold onto.

Chipper Jones avoided a stint on the DL on Tuesday, but the Phillies ruined his return blasting eight runs in their victory. Shane Victorino went 2-for-5 including a career high five RBIs in the win. Meanwhile, the Phillies rotation is a starter short after they sent Brett Myers to AAA-Lehigh Valley.

Matt Cain doesn't always get the run support he needs from his team, but Tuesday's two runs turned out to be just enough, as the Giants edged the Cubs, 2-1. The Giants recalled back-up catcher Eliezer Alfonzo on Tuesday, just nine days after he completed a 50-game suspension for using a performance-enhancing drug.

The Rays extended their lead over the Red Sox with a 3-1 win. The win also gave them a major league best record of 51-32. I guess I may have to start taking them seriously now. Tampa Bay did place closer Troy Percival on the 15 day DL with a strained left hamstring.

Major loser Mark Ecko has finally worked out a deal with the Hall of Fame that would allow Cooperstown the rights to display Barry Bond's historic 756 homerun ball with the astrick. Whether you believe Bonds earned it the right way or not, it is a part of baseball's history and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

SI's Tom Verducci gives out his halfway award winners. Click here to see who he chose. (I, myself would edge Chipper Jones over Lance Berkman, but I'm totally biased.)

Nascar Update:
Sad news, Chip Ganassi Racing has been forced to shut down the #40 operation due to lack of sponsorship. The move leaves 2007 IRL champion Dario Franchitti without a Cup ride (he may race in the Nationwide Series for Ganassi) and about 70 people without a job. I won't say I told you so, because that would be mean, but I don't get why people are so eager to jump ship and head over to Nascar who didn't really have the proper experience to be racing in Cup.

Kerry Earnhardt will make his first start in a DEI car in Friday's Nationwide Series race from Daytona.

Speaking of DEI, rumor has it that Martin Truex, Jr. will move over to Penske Racing to take over the #12 ride currently being driven by Ryan Newman. Newman is rumored to be headed to revamped Haas CNC which will be co-owned by Tony Stewart.

News&Notes: Baron Davis reportedly has agreed to move to the Los Angeles Clippers in a deal worth $65 million over five years...Chris Paul looks to be staying in New Orleans for the forseeable future. The all-star is working on an extension with the Hornets that could net him upwards of $80 million...Over in the NHL, Tuedsay proved to be a big day for many teams. Click here to see how the signs ranked...There are also some rumors floating around that Sean Avery could be headed anywhere it seems but New York and that his teammate Jaromir Jagr could go back to Pittsburgh and other teammate Brendan Shanahan would go to NJ. Pittsburgh fine, but NJ, I don't think so...The Rangers did sign six players including Michal Rozsival...Speaking of Pittsburgh they are likely to announce their re-signing of center Evgeni Malkin. I guess that Hossa thing isn't working out...All is not well in jolly old England after Serena Williams, her sister Venus and Jelena Jankovic all complained about being shut out of the two main courts for their fourth round matches. The WTA has said they are "disappointed and concerned".

Check this out: So much excitement in the world of entertainment, but sadly, I'm far too excited with the return of Michael Ausiello, you know the guy from TVguide.com. Well he left TVguide and spent a month completely torturing me by not giving up any good tv nuggets and now he's over at ew.com. His first big scoop, Shannen Doherty is heading to the new 90210. Click here to read his column.

Editor's Note: As you may have judged from yesterday, the rest of the week will be pretty light. I'm super swamped at work and then I have the next few days off, but I promise to be back at full strength next week. So keep checking back!

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
