While you were busy skimming the Mitchell Report...

Football Update:
The Texans were killing the Denver Broncos and keeping their slim hopes of a playoff spot alive with their 31-13 win. Mario Williams was finally able to show his #1 draft pick worth on a national stage with his 3 1/2 sacks of the Broncos' Jay Culter.

Ben Roethisberger missed Steelers practice on Thursday with a sore shoulder. His status is expected to be updated on Friday.

In other QB news, the Raiders have decided to start Josh McCown for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Raiders coach Lane Kiffin did say he is committed to giving Rookie JaMarcus Russell playing time during the game.

...And San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers practiced on Thursday and is expected to play against the Lions even though he is suffering from a sprained back.

The NFL will hear the Players' Union's appeal on behalf of Tennessee Titan Pacman Jones on Friday afternoon.

Baseball Update:
Before you go to ebay to buy the PDF of the Mitchell report know that you can get it for free here. But if you've got better things to do than read through 409 pages, you can get a list of players here.

And with the presentation of the report, denials have already begun including Roger Clemens, Mike Stanton and the Boston Red Sox.

The Chicago Tribune believes they'll have the sale of the Cubs done by the middle of 2008, but a new report says the Tribune Co. has asked the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority to acquire Wrigley Field.

David Eckstein is officially a Blue Jay after signing a one year, $4.5 million contract.

The Texas Rangers have signed Japanese reliever Kazuo Fukumori. A formal announcement is expected for Friday.

The Minnesota Twins signed SS Adam Everett for a one year, $2.8 million. Everett fills the hole left behind with Jason Bartlett's trade to the Rays.

The Oakland A's have signed reliever Kiko Calero to a one year deal.

The Black Sox papers sold for $100,000 at an auction topping 35 other bids.

Braves Update:
While there were not any current Braves players mentioned in the Mitchell Report, Atlanta Brave Hall of Famer David Justice was mentioned along with former pitcher Denny Neagle, former outfielder Gary Sheffield and former back up catcher Todd Pratt. None of these players steriod use was shown to be done during their time with the Braves.

Meanwhile, the Braves issued a statement:

"With the release of Senator Mitchell's report and Commissioner Selig's comments
on behalf of Major League Baseball, we mark a significant moment in baseball history.

For too long, all of us -- players, teams, media and especially our great fans -- have had to hear and read constantly about the issue of use and abuse of performance-enhancing substances.

We believe the Mitchell Report will allow us to move forward and continue the progress we have seen since Major League Baseball's drug-testing program began in 2002. Now we can look forward to a new day in baseball when we can focus on and enjoy this great game and the talented players who play it."
