Football Update:
The New England Patriots are no longer content with just blowing teams out by forty points. No the team is trying new ways to crush the other team by giving them false hope. The Patriots began their new approach to winning against the Eagles and again this week against the Baltimore Ravens. The Pats used last minute heroics to prove once again whose the undefeated team in their 27-24 win on Monday Night Football. That Bill Belichick, always one step ahead of the competition.
Thousands paid tribute to slain Redskin Sean Taylor on Monday.
In other Ravens news, QB Steve McNair was placed on IR on Monday. He will undergo surgery to repair his non-throwing shoulder on Tuesday.
The Detroit Lions will have to play the rest of the season without WR Roy Williams, who has a sprained knee.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have defensive tackle Marcus Stroud back after completing a four game suspension for violating the leagues' steriod abuse policy.
Jeff Garcia may be back with the Bucs this weekend.
Former NFL Player Mark Murphy was elected to become a top executive with the Green Bay Packers. Murphy also possesses a law degree and MBA in finance.
While the Twins will be enjoying a new stadium in 2010, the Minnesota Vikings will not.
Remember the exchange between Colts head coach Tony Dungy and Pats head coach Bill Billichick? Well, Tony totally expected that "frosty exchange".
Baseball Update:
Looks like Johan Santana will not be in pinstripes next year. The Yankees deadline was not met and they are planning to look elsewhere, like in Oakland perhaps? But don't worry Minnesota, if first you don't succeed, try try again. Hank is not a man of his word, just ask ARod.
The Sox now look to be the frontrunner in the Santana sweepstakes. Talk about the rich getting Bill Gates style wealthy!
They also re-signed Mike Timlin for one year and $3 million.
The Yankees are spreading cheer to the campus of Virginia Tech this spring with a exhibition game against the Hokies baseball team which will take place in Blacksburg, VA.
...And they signed backup catcher Jose Molina to a two year, $4 million deal. Oh to be a back up!
The Kansas City Royals signed outfielder Jose Guillen to a four year, $36 million contract.
Wheelings and dealings abound at the Winter Meetings in Nashville, TN...The Yankees traded Tyler Clippard to the Nationals for reliever Jonathan Albaladejo...The Nats also picked up honorable citizen Elijah Dukes from Tampa Bay for Glenn Gibson...The White Sox acquired outfielder Carlos Quentin from the Diamonbacks for Class A Kannapolis player Chris Carter but are still looking to upgrade the outfield.
More names on the trading block: Balitmore Orioles' starter Erik Bedard, Oakland A's starter Dan Haren, Marlins' 3B Miguel Cabrera, Cardinals' 3B Scott Rolen and Twins' closer Joe Nathan.
Names off the block: Colorado Rockies reliever Brian Fuentes, the Giants young arms of Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum
Billy Southworth, Dick Williams, Bowie Kuhn, Walter O'Malley and Barney Dreyfuss will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
The New York Mets and Chicago White Sox will meet on March 29th in Memphis, TN for the Civil Rights Game.

Arkansas State will be without leading scorer Adrian Banks for a while after be was suspended indefinately follwing his arrested for firing a gun within Jonesboro City limits. The popo pulled over a car with five ASU athletes including Banks after hearing gun shots. A gun was found in the back seat of the car, but Banks being the nice guy that he is told officers it had "nothing to do with the other occupants." And he uses 75 cent words, I'm impressed. Let's see how your cellmates feel. Watch out Adrian, because the popo are on your tail!
News & Notes: The 76ers have fired GM Billy King and hired Nets GM Ed Stefanski...The Spurs dodged a big one when ccneter Tim Duncan's MRI turned up negative. Duncan is expected to miss no more than a few games with an injured knee and ankle...Well wishes to Ron Artest and his family. The Sacramento Bee is reporting that his four year old daughter Diamond is suffering from kidney cancer...Steve Nash is probably done playing in Canada. Good call there Stevie!...Add Karl Dorrell to the growing list of NCAA football coach looking for employment after being fired by UCLA. The Bruins went 6-6 this season...Indiana's star freshman Eric Gordon left the Hooisers game early with an injured back in their 84-72 win over Tennessee State...The Rangers were held scoreless in their 4-0 loss to the Hurricanes...The Dallas Stars will miss right wing Jere Lehtinen for 8 to 10 weeks after he underwent surgery to fix an abdominal injury...The Toronto radio station that reported Sean Avery's horrible remarks towards Maple Leafs foward Jason Blake are now retracting their story...You've been warned Philadelphia, one more stick to the head and you're team is going to be fined and missing a player for a while.
