Goodness, it's not like this is fantasy baseball!

Football Update:
Good news for the Denver Broncos, halfback Travis Henry will not have to serve a one year suspension for drug use after winning his appeal. Henry claimed he was a "victim of second hand smoke" and did actually use the drug. Since he was already an offender, he will be forced to stay in the substance abuse program but will be able to continue playing for the Broncos. Travis' lawyers agrued the test administered incorrectly because he was unable to chose an expert to do the test.

Brett Farve was named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year.

The NFL is investigating a claim by Balitmore Raven Samari Rolle in which he claims an official called him "boy" multiple times during the Raven's Monday night loss to the Patriots.

QB news: 49er Alex Smith will test his shoulder to see if he will have to undergo season ending surgery...The Rams could have Marc Bulger back after he passed a neuropsychological exam.

Zac Thomas will miss the rest of the season after the Miami Dolphins placed him on IR. He has missed five games with migranes.

Roger Goodell is reviewing the Union's appeal of Pacman Jones' one year suspension.

Looks like the NFL Network's lack of accessibilty for most Americans didn't stop 10.1 million of them from watching the Dallas Cowboys beat the Green Bay Packers last Thursday. Your welcome NFL Network, I enjoyed the broadcast thoroughly.

Baseball Update:
While you were waiting to hear about Johan Santana's new location, a huge deal took place during the Winter Meetings on Tuesday. The Marlins have traded 3B Miguel Cabrera and pitcher Dontrelle Willis (who was thought to be off limits) to the Detroit Tigers for six prospects including pitcher Andrew Miller and outfielder Cameron Maybin. With the departure of Willis and Miggy, the Marlins no longer have any players from the 2003 World Champion team.

And lucky for the Tigers, Miggy's been working out. He's hoping to look like skinnier version of his 2007 self.

The Tigers also picked up Denny Bautista from the Rockies for Jose Capellan.

And back to that Santana talk, it's apparently the Red Sox or bust!

The Giants Tim Lincecum to the Blue Jays for Alex Rios? It could happen.

That whole idea of having a rotating third baseman is starting to sound stupid to the Phillies. And the whole not re-signing Tadahito Iguchi because they already had two guys who could play third base is seeming even dumber. Maybe that's why the Phillies are thinking of changing their tune.

Prized closer Chad Cordero actually wants to stay in Washington. He must love those President Races.

The Padres are very very close to a $52 million extension that will keep Jake Peavy pitching at Petco until the 2012 season.

News & Notes: Those calls for better players to surrond LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavs have just been pushed to 11 after falling to the Nets 100-79...Amare Stoudemire's 42 helped the Suns top the Pacers 121-117...Even with the stomach flu, Kobe Bryant was able to lead the Lakers to a 116-95 win over the Timberwolves...Top teams with close calls on Tuesday included #2 Memphis who beat USC 62-58 in OT, #10 Michigan States' 66-61 win over Bradley and #12 Tennessee's 76-70 victory over Tennessee-Chattanooga...The Senators were sooo close to breaking that six game win streak but instead it was extended to seven after they fell 4-3 to the Lightning in a shoot out...Following 2008, all three major Nascar Series will have changed its title sponsor after Craftsman announced it will end its partnership with the Truck Series...Nascar has released its list of test sites and dates for 2008...Mad Max Papis has joined Rusty Wallace Racing for the team's 3 road course races in 2008...And finally, sad news, David "Chip" Reese has died at the age of 56. The World Series of Poker player apparently died in his sleep.

Check this out: Hank Steinbrenner does not live in a fantasy world. In regards to the Santana trade, the Yankee scion told reporters "A deadline, is a deadline. It was pretty much done as of this morning. He's a fine pitcher but there's a lot of things that go into this. This isn't fantasy baseball." Are you sure? Because with all the money the Yanks spend and the players on the team, it kind of feels like it. (Metro)

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
