If you turned the giants/bears game off after the third quarter...

Football Update:
The Giants' improbable win was marked by quarterback Eli Mannings transformation from a JV QB with two interceptions in the first three quarters into a real live NFL player leading his team down the field twice including the game winning touchdown in the final 15 minutes in their 21-16 win over da Bears. Credit also has to be given to the defense who were able to make sure thing TDs by the Bears into field goals which prevented a blowout loss by the G-Men.

Giants GM Jerry Reese tries to back track on his Eli Manning "skittish" remark.

UPDATE: Uh, oh...Giants RB Derrick Ward apparently broke his leg during the Giants win over the Bears on Sunday. Brandon Jacobs is penciled in to return for Big Blue on Sunday against the Eagles but will probably injure himself again sometime during that game.

The Redskins honored the memory of former teammate Sean Taylor who died last Tuesday by sending only 10 players out on their first defensive play of the game. They also lost after Joe Gibbs called two consecutive timeouts resulting a fifteen yard penalty and a field goal by the Buffalo Bills in a 17-16 loss. Taylor's funeral will be held on Monday.

Even as a 1 point favorite the winless Miami Dolphins still figured out a way to embarress themselves with a 40-13 loss to the New York Jets. Maybe they were mesmerized by the ladies in Gate D.

Adrian Peterson's return helped spark a 40-10 win over the Detroit Lions. The 10 win season promise made by Lions QB John Kitna really seems crazy now!

The Texans not only got swept the Titans in their season series with a 28-20 loss, but they also saw QB Matt Schaub go down with a dislocated shoulder and they still aren't upset that they got rid of David Carr.

The Eagles have lost two close games with Donovan McNabb in the game. Their first was a moral victory to the Patriots, but the second was just a straight up loss to the Seattle Seahawks, 28-24.

JaMarcus Russell made his NFL debut in the Oakland Raiders 34-20 win over the Broncos. Even with this win, I still think he's an ass for holding out.

Baseball Update:
Johan Santana has told the Twins he will veto any in-season trade adding more stress to the Twins to get rid of the two time Cy Young Award winner.

And the Yankees have imposed a deadline of Monday for the Minnesota Twins to decide on whether they are willing to trade ace Johan Santana to the Bronx for CF Melky Cabrera, pitcher Phil Hughes and a midlevel prospect. The Red Sox are offering outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, Jed Lowrie and a pitching prospect like Justin Masterson or Michael Bowden. Fear not Minnesota, if you beg enough, the Yankees will forget about their silly little ultamatums.

Meanwhile, if the Yankees don't score Santana, they know they'll have Andy Pettite back in the rotation with his one year, $16 million deal.

With Miguel Cabrera being dangled by the Florida Marlins, pitcher Dontrell Willis is likely to stay in Miami with the Marlins.

Center Fielder News: The Phillies have offered Aaron Rowand arbitration...and the Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in former Brave Andruw Jones.

The Wolf Pack will not be back in Philly after Randy Wolf signed a one year deal that bring him at least $4 million with the San Diego Padres. I guess playing at Petco would pad your stats better than in Citizens Bank Park.

The San Diego Padres are close to extending 2007 Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy's contract.

While the Houston Astors have landed second baseman Kaz Matsui for 3 years and $16.5 million.

Braves Update:
Lance Cormier is not one of the eight players who will be going out for a spot on the starting rotation come this spring after he was designated for assignment. If he is not picked up off the waivers, he'll be invited to spring training as a non-roster invitee. Cormier's spot on the 40 man roster was filed by recent free-agent signing Tom Glavine.

News & Notes: With a season full of suprises, it was pretty predicable that West Viriginia and Missouri got knocked out in the final weekend of play?
