The Braves picked up left-handed reliever Will Ohman and utility infielder Omar Infante from the Cubs for right handed-reliever Jose Ascanio. The Braves, who seemed to have a pretty steady bullpen at the close of the season, have seen holes open via trade (Oscar Villarreal to the Astros) and free agency (Octavio Dotel and possibly Ron Mahay.) They also promoted super sub Yunel Escobar to starting short stop following the Edgar Renteria trade to detroit leaving a hole for a utility guy when Chipper Jones undoubtably goes down for a few weeks during the season.
The Braves also designated outfielder Willie Harris for assignment to make room for the new acquistions from the Cubs. Harris scorched in the early part of the season, but his numbers came down considerably as time went on. Does this mean Matt Diaz has finally earned a full time gig in left?
It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
