Who wears short shorts?

Football Update:
It was a valiant effort for the Giants, but like in the other 15 games the Patriots won, they were able to find a way to pick a part the Giants defense and bring Eli Manning back his old self in their 38-35 win. For his part, Manning only had one pick, that must be a record for the season. Meanwhile, Tom Brady, Randy Moss and the Pats set records of their own including most TD passes (Brady), TD receptions (Moss) and points scored (Pats).

Oh, and thanks to CBS, NBC and the NFL Network, 34.5 million people got a chance to watch the game.

Going into Sunday's game, the Redskins, Saints and Vikings had a chance to take the final NFC playoff spot, but it was the Skins with their 27-6 win over the Cowboys who will play next weekend.

...Devin Hester picked up his sixth kick off return for a TD of the season in the Bears 33-25 win over the Saints which ended their season early.

...And the Vikings saw their dreams of an extra week crash and burn with Denver's OT field goal in their 22-19 loss.

On the AFC side, Kerry Collins sparked the Titans 16-10 win over the Colts to slip into the playoffs.

Click here to see the 2008 postseason schedule.

Vinny Testaverde ended his NFL career with the Panthers in a 31-23 win over the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Following their 17-9 loss to the Eagles, Marv Levy is expected to step down as GM of the Buffalo Bills.

Now that the season is over, DeAngelo Hall and couple of his Falcon teammates plan on visiting former teammate Michael Vick in prison. Is this like their version of scared straight? Because if it is, they should probably bring Pacman Jones along.

Baseball Update:
Former Brave Oscar Villarreal signed a two year, $2.85 million deal with the Astros. Villarreal was traded to Houston earlier in the offseason.

Speaking of the Astros, they will allow Miguel Tejada to play winter ball in the Dominican Republic. He has to build his strength now that he won't be able to play baseball on the juice.

Jamie Moyer and Raul Ibanez are not happy with Shane Monahan's claims that the Mariners locker room's culture forced him to turn to steroids and amphetamines.

Jose Canseco was underwelmed by the results of the Mitchell Report and plans to release a new book, "Vindicated" just in time for Opening Day 2008.

News & Notes: Boston didn't seem to be too distracted by the Lakers short-shorts win their 110-91 win over the LA...Who needs Greg Oden when your winning 13 straight, right Portland. The Blazers took out Philly 97-72 on Sunday to continue their win streak...The Kings may be without Ron Artest if he undergoes surgery to remove chipped bone fragments in his elbow. Artest has already missed two games with his ailment...Brendan Shanahan came alive at just the right time for the Rangers knocking in a game winning OT goal in the Rangers 4-3 win over the Canadiens...It took 14 months but Ethan Moreau was finally able to join his Oilers' teammates on Saturday in a 5-4 loss to the Wild...The Penguins will be without the services of Gary Roberts after he broke his leg during the second period of their 2-0 win over Buffalo on Saturday...Alabama completed a 30-24 win over Colorado in the Independence Bowl.

Jim Leyritz is in big trouble

Jim Leyritz had a busy two days, on Thursday he turned 44 and on Friday morning he slammed into another car while allegedly driving under the influence. The driver in the other car died at the scene after her car rolled over and she was ejected. Leyritz refused a Breathalyzer test and was taken to the station where he was booked and held on $11,000 bond. Leyritz was reportedly driving in Fort Lauderdale, FL when the accident happened.

Jim was best known for his three-run homer for the Yankees in game four of the 1996 World Series against the Atlanta Braves. While those were some dark times for me, I pretty sure Leyritz is in a bit of a bigger funk following this incident. Watch out Jimmy, because the popo are on your tail!

Girls Night Out in Nashville

Normally when you break up with your boyfriend you tend to avoid places where you'd see him especially if he say, cheated on you. But as we've noted before, Kellie Pickler isn't the smartest person so we can't say we're totally surprised to see her at a Nashville Predators game with her friends Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. Pickler had been dating Jordan Tootoo before publicly acknowledging their split at a concert in September. Of course, she could be scoping out a new guy and what better way to piss of your ex, than to date a teammate. Maybe we've been underestimating Pickler's smarts. Maybe the blonde haired crooner is actually quite street smart, because she surely is not book smart.

Sean Avery to piss off a lot of Canadians

The Rangers are heading up to north to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. What should be a homecoming for Sean Avery, who grew up only 25 miles away from Toronto in Pickering actually turns into a big pain in Sean's behind everytime he heads to the big city.
"I never enjoy going to Toronto," said Avery, "Because I don't enjoy hockey-obsessed Canadians; because the exchange rate is not very good; because it's going to cost me a lot of money for tickets for people I don't like."
Funny, he forgot to mention that he also hates going there because people make up stories about him making fun of players who have battled cancer, especially since he served multiple people papers involving said libel case on "Christmas or Christmas Eve." He's like a regular Santa Claus or Chris Kringle. Should we call him Santa Sean or Sean Kringle?

Final weekend of the year

Football Update:
For all of you fans out there that were worried that you wouldn't be able to see the Giants try to dethrone the so-far undefeated New England Patriots on Saturday at 8:15 PM/est because you don't have the NFL network, don't worry, NBC and CBS will air the game for free. Let's go Big Blue!

Meanwhile, Tom Brady is apparently delusional after requesting the Giants rest their players to make this whole 16-0 thing easier. Sure Tom, we'll rest our if you rest yours.

Big Ben will probably sit Sunday's game out with an injured ankle after missing two days of practice.

Marvin Harrison practiced for the first time in ten games. Could he be ready to go for the playoffs?

Just in time for the Bear's off-season, Chicago has placed Nathan Vasher on IR.

The San Diego Chargers held auditions for a new kicker to replace Nate Kaeding who is nursing a bruised leg. I wonder if their auditions are as tough as the ones to become a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader?

The Dallas Cowboys have signed receiver Patrick Crayton to a four year deal worth up to $14 million.

The Cardinals want to keep lineback Karlos Dansby bad. How bad? If they can't re-sign him, they'll stamp franchise all over him to keep him in Arizona.

Warwick Dunn doesn't want to go out with the taste of the Falcon's 2007 diaster in his mouth. Instead, he'll likely play again in 2008.

Packers linebacker Nick Barnett will not file a formal grievance but that doesn't mean he's opposed to getting an apology from the NFL.

Warren Sapp was fined $75,000 by the NFL after Sunday's outburst directed at a game official which led to his ejection.

Bill Parcells had his first day on the job as an executive for the Miami Dolphins.

For a full schedule of the week's final games click here.

Baseball Update:
Roger Clemens is on a mission to clear his name. So much so, he has apparently hired a PI to "challenge the credibility of Brian McNamee."

The Yankees have asked second baseman Robinson Cano to stop playing winter ball in the Dominican Republic reportedly so he can fully heal his calf injury.

In other Yankees news, they have finalized a 1 year, $3.75 million contract with LaTroy Hawkins.

The White Sox signed cuban slugger Alexei Ramirez. I thought we couldn't buy things from Cuba.

The Kansas City Royals signed former Marlins catcher Miguel Olivo to a one year contract.

Meanwhile, the Marlins signed infielder Jose Castillo on Monday.

The Phillies are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited to sign another outfielder, this time So Taguchi to a one year deal.

In other outfield signing news, the Astros picked up Darin Erstad with a one year contract worth at least $1 million.

Mark Prior is looking to start his career over after signing a one year, $1 million deal with the San Diego Padres. He can earn as much as $3 million with incentive clauses.

The Reds traded feel good story Josh Hamilton to the Rangers for pitchers Edinson Volquez and Danny Herrera.

Suprise, suprise the Yankees and Red Sox were hit hard with luxury taxes this year. The Yankees will pay $23.88 million for a team that got swept in the first round of the playoffs while the World Champion Red Sox have to pay $6.06 million.

While your recovering from a raging hangover on New Years Day, check out the Dodger's float in the annual Rose Parade.

Braves News:
Former player and Atlanta Braves coach Jim Beauchamp sucumbed to leukemia on Tuesday. He was only 68.

News & Notes: I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not, but Stephon Marbury promises he'll be back with the Knicks in the New Year...Jim Boylan will take over as the interim head coach of the Chicago Bulls after they fired Scott Skiles on Monday...It was blowout city baby in Phoenix as the Suns crushed the Clippers 108-88...The Celtics win yet again with a 104-96 victory in Ray Allens return to Seattle...Speaking of the Celtics, Kevin Garnett is not only helping to lead them to an amazing 24-3 start, but he's also the leading All-Star vote getter...Sid the Kid is getting it done on the NHL side of the All-Star vote...The Colorado Avalanche will be without Joe Sakic for up to 12 weeks after he undergoes surgery to repair a hernia...West Virginia has sued Rich Rodriguez to collect his $4 million buyout...Texas came out strong with a 21 point opening quarter in the Holiday Bowl and cruised to a 52-34 win over Arizona State despite a no-no by Texas coach Mack Brown's stepson Chris Jessie. Someone's going to be relegated to the stands next year...Texas A&M are sorry for telling Penn States head coach Joe Paterno that he'll need a casket. I mean he's 81 years old, so really they were just stating the obvious...UNC picked up an impressive 106-70 win over Nevada but it came with a price, as the Tar Heels will be without Junior guard Bobby Frasor for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

It just keeps getting worse for Kasey Kahne

Not only is Nascar driver Kasey Kahne facing criminal charges and a civil suit, but he may become a victim of identity theft after some moron from Miami's TV station WPLG published the arrest affidavit online. One small problem, along with Kale Kahne's (Kasey's brother) statement to the police and the statements of four members of the popo were Kasey's home address, telephone, driver's lisence and social security numbers. (Oh and full name, it is weird to anyone else that his initials are KKK?) And thus we enter today's lesson, read EVERYTHING before you post anything on the internet.

keeping hope alive

Football Update:
The Steelers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 41-24 win over the Rams. The once playoff locks have suffered a minor slide which has included losses to the Patroits and Jaguars. The game did prove costly for Pittsburgh when leading rusher Willie Parker went down with a broken leg.

The NFL has upheld the year long ban on Pacman Jones.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid discussed his sons law issues with a Philadelphia Magazine.

Mike Ditka will finish dispursing funds from his now defunct trust for needy former NFL players.

It's a must win situation for the Giants as they head to Buffalo without its offesnive heart, Jeremy Shockey, on Sunday. With a win on Sunday, the Giants would clinch a playoff birth. Otherwise they would be forced to derail the undefeated Patriots on December 30th at home, a place which has proven to be anything but friendly for Big Blue.

Baseball Update:
Affidavits by both Jason Grimsley and Kirk Rodomski have been unsealed. Neither Andy Pettitte or Roger Clemens names appeared.

In other performance-enhancing drugs news, the Senate will not subponea players to testify in their circus of congressional hearing in January. I'm confused, if you're not going to get players involved why are paying for this waste of time? Why not just build another useless bridge in Alaska, at least three people can benefit from that.

The Tigers have extended Dontrelle Willis' contract by three years. He'll recieve an additional $29 million for his troubles.

Chad Durbin was added to the Phillies roster signing a one year, $900,000 contract.

The Brewers and Gabe Kapler came to a one year, $800,000 agreement.

Derek Jeter may never stand up Alex Rodriguez, but he is standing behind friend and teammate Andy Pettitte praising him for his HGH admission.

Popo in my crib News:
Three people including two women were charged in connection with a robbery of three North Carolina football players. Monique Jenice Taylor, Tnika Monta Washington and Michael Troy Lewis are facing three counts of kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a felony and one count of resisting arrest. Watcho ut Monique, Tnika and Michael, because the popo are on your tail!

Trevor Berbick's nephew was convicted of killing the former heavyweight champion on Thursday. Harold Berbick and his accomplice Kenton Gordon were convicted of manslaughter following a four week trial. The pair will be sentenced on January 11th. Watch out Harold and Kenton, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: Pittsburgh toppled Duke in an overtime buzzer beating 65-64 win at the Garden to stay undefeated...Utah ushered in Bowl season with a 35-32 win over Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl...Denver's 112-111 win over the Rockets came down to a double overtime buzzer beater. Take that Pitt!...In other OT news, the Nets rallied to a 107-103 win over the depleted Heat...They couldn't beat the Knicks, but the Cavs pulled out a 94-90 win over Kobe and the Lakers...The Rangers learned something new on Thursday, when someone scores 5 goals, you're probably going to lose during their 6-3 loss to the Wild. No Whammy, no whammy, no!

Football Update:
24 hours later and it turns out Bill Parcells will not be joining the Atlanta Falcons. He will, however, be going to Miami, becoming the VP of football operations.

The Dallas Cowboys will be without Roy Williams after his appeal was rejected by the League. But they will have QB Tony Romo after injuring his thumb and pride during Sunday's loss to the Eagles.

In other QB news, the Ravens may start rookie Troy Smith on Sunday...Kellen Clemens will start for the Jets this weekend, you know, if he's healthy...Kurt Warner thinks his performance this season for the Arizona Cardinals merits a chance at the starting job in 2008. I know Matt Leinart may not be what you thought he was, but at least he's younger than Tom Glavine.

Reggie Bush practiced on Wednesday despite a torn ligament in his left knee, but his status for Sunday's game remains up in the air.

Steelers safety Anthony Smith was quite talkative leading up to Pittsburgh's loss to the Patriots, but now it seems Smith will have to shout his opinions from the bench as he was demoted by the team.

The St. Louis Rams will retire Marshall Faulk's number 28 during halftime of the Rams' Thursday game against the Steelers. It's like the NFL network thinks of more reasons why you should be pissed off you can't watch the games.

Speaking of the NFL Network, the Senate is thinking of revoking the NFL's anti-trust exemption. Between baseball hearings and the NFL Network, it makes me think that everyday is vacation in Washington.

The Bills will have a special visitor during their final home game against the Giants on Sunday, Kevin Everett. Everett suffered a spinal cord injury during the September 9th game against the Denver Broncos.

Baseball Update:
The Phillies have reached a preliminary agreement with outfieler Geoff Jenkins. (Replacing one Geoff with another, huh?) According to a report, the Phills have offered Jenkins a two year, $13 million contract.

The Rockies have signed pitchers Kip Wells and Mark Redman to one deals.

In other Rockies news, looks like they're talking to former Atlanta Brave Marcus Giles about playing 2B. Kaz Matsui left Colorado for Houston earlier this off season.

Michael Barrett and the San Diego Padres have reached an agreement on a one year, $3.5 million contract for 2008.

Curt Schilling's newest blog post says that if Roger Clemens is guilty of filling himself up with various performance enhancing drugs, then he should give up his four Cy Young Awards received after 1997. For the full post click here.

Even though the Mitchell Report recommended no punishment for the names included, Commissioner Bud Selig is still looking to go after them. But, he may run into some problems because the evidence in the report are less than rock solid.

It's rare when a story about Alex Rodriguez leaves me jokeless, but here's one. Alex is giving back to his Miami community with a $1.5 million Alex Rodriguez Education Center which will support the Boys & Girls club he attended as a kid.

Braves Update:
Looks like the Braves will be needing another bullpen arm after reports surfaced that Ron Mahay will be going to the Royals with a two year, $8 million deal.

Popo in my crib News:
The four suspects accused of killing and robbing NFL player Sean Taylor have plead not guilty of all charges. Eric Rivera, Jr., Charles Wardlow, Jason Mitchell and Venjah Hunte are currently being held without bond. Watch out Eric, Charles, Jason and Venjah, because the popo are on your tail!

Broncos punter Todd Sauerbrun gives you another reason to not get arrested and act like an ass to the popo, Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has admitted that Sauerbrun's off the field actions were a big reason why he's unemployed. Sauerbrun has been accused of assualting a taxi driver. Watch out Todd, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: The Celtics perfection at home was snapped when Detroit sweaked by with a 87-85 win...Houston got a double whammy on Wednesday, a 97-92 loss to the Magic and an injured Tracy McGrady...Memphis handed the Spurs a buzz beater 88-85 loss...They got called out by their coach and their fans, but the Knicks somehow used that negativity to produce a 108-90 win over the Cavs...Alonzo Mourning maybe out of comebacks after he tore the patellar tendon in his right knee during the Heats 117-111 loss to the Hawks...The Islanders Chris Simons received the longest suspension by the NHL, 30 games and the Isles lost to the Sabres 2-1...The Big Ten Conference will check out allegations that referee Stephen Pamon has "a history of bankruptcy, casino gambling, child abuse and...sexual harassment."...WVU is looking at Florida assistant coach Doc Holliday to fill its vacancy.

Tony, just listen to T.O.

Just when you things start to calm down you can always count on T.O. to break up the silence. When talking with the reporters about his QB’s new gal pal Jessica Simpson he had this to say:

"Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite in this locker room or in Texas Stadium," T.O. said. "I think with everything that has happened, and obviously the way Tony played and the comparison between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel like she's probably taking his focus away. Other than that, she was at the top of my list until last week."
But don’t worry, Jess, Terrell isn’t blacklisting you quite yet,

"I've got a message for her when we make the playoffs," T.O. said. "Just stay tuned."

Don’t worry, we will.

Kasey Kahne vs. the Popo, Part II

Kasey Kahne is being sued by Homestead-Miami Speedway security guard Archibald Hutchinson for "severe physical injuries" contected to a November incident at the track. The damages are believed to be in excess of $15,000.

Hutchinson claimed that Kahne pushed him to the ground after Kahne was denied access to the drivers motorhome lot. Kahne and his brother Kale were aboard a golf cart as the time. Hutchinson claimed Kahne leaped from the cart, cussed him out and then pushed him to ground causing severe injuries.

Kale's report to the police described a different situation in which Kahne told Hutchinson "I am going to walkt to my motor home then." A guard then placed his hands on Kahne, when Kahne removed the guard's hands, the guard then lost his balance and fell.

Four other members of the popo who witnessed the event have sided with Hutchinson.

Kahne is already awaiting a January 8th court date for his misdemeanor battery charge which carries as much as a year in jail and $1,000 in fines.

I'm still contesting that by Kahne just showing up to the court date he'll be aquitted of all charges. He's smaller than most 13 year old girls, how much bodily harm could he cause without the use of the golf cart?

Join the Knicks Parade

Knicks fans are no longer content with chanting "fire Isiah" during Knicks games. No, they are taking their message to the streets. Fans are planning on parading around Madison Square Garden holding a giant pink slip on Wednesday.

With a 7-17 record, Isiah has publically acknowledged the team both "has no heart" and that he may have to make some changes if the team continues at their lack-luster pace. Thomas requested two more weeks to right the ship before calling for his head.
"That's a better question in a couple of weeks," Thomas said. "Not today, but in a couple weeks, that would be a fair question. We'll see if we can come out of this. If we can't come out of this, then those are fair questions. There's still a lot of basketball left in the season. There is time to turn it around."

Of course the Knicks poor play during his almost 4 year tenure would justify a firing, Isiah lives in a special fantasy world where he can do no wrong and everyone around him continues to let him down.

Um,16?

Football Update:
The Pro Bowl was announced on Tuesday. Sean Taylor, who was killed in November, made the team as a starting free safety. For the AFC team click here. For the NFC team click here. Osi Umenyiora was the only Giant to make the squad.

The Falcons want Bill Parcells to join their team in the front office and maybe fill that head coach opening?

The Broncos have released punter Todd Sauerbrun.

Herm Edwards is sorry for telling the fans to "get over it." In related news, the fans are sorry for laughing so loudly when the Chiefs fire Edwards for their current 4-10 season which includes a current seven game slide.

Tony Romo's thumb is feeling better but it's still probably not a good idea to invite your girlfriend to a game ever again. What am I talking about, as a Giants fan, invite Jessica Simpson to every game you play for the rest of your short term relationship!

In other Cowboys' news, Roy Williams is appealing his one game suspension.

What better way to send your holiday greetings than with a PETA sponsored card which makes fun of Michael Vick? Oh wait, there are about 10 million better ways to send your greetings. Goodness, PETA MOVE ON!

Baseball Update:
If you used steriods after 2003, you may be screwed!

Roger Clemens broke his silence releasing a statement that denies any HGH or steriods use.

Meanwhile, the league and the players union are negotiating six of the recommendations made in the Mitchell Report.

And, Congress is calling a hearing to revied performance enhancing drugs in baseball. Isn't there a war or something that they could be spending time reviewing?

Oh, and Pete Rose called steriods in baseball more embarrassing then say, betting on baseball.

The Mariners are actively persuing Carlos Silva with a four year, $44 million deal.

The Mets signed reliever Matt Wise to a one year contract.

The Astros have signed former Braves reliever Chad Paronto to a one year, $500,000 deal. I think they may have overpaid.

The Nationals home opener of their new stadium will kick off domestic play for MLB on March 30th. The Nationals will be hosting the Atlanta Braves.

Speaking of new stadiums, the Marlins may actually get one of their own.

Alex Rodriguez and Scott Boras' frosty relationship has officially come to a close. ARod has hired Guy Oseary whose clients have included Modonna and Lenny Kravitz. I hope he's not planning on releasing an album!

Sad news, Blue Jays broadcaster Don Chevrier has died. He was 69.

Braves Update:
Mark Teixeira underwent arthoscopic knee surgery in November. Teixiera and his doctors are confident he'll be back to full strength by the start of spring training.

Popo in my crib News:
Denver Broncos wide reciever Brandon Marshall plead not guilty to a charge of DUI which stemmed from an October 22nd arrest following the Broncos 31-28 defeat of the Steelers. Seems someone was allegedly celebrating a meaningless win a little too hard! Marshall is also facing charges of driving the wrong way on a one way street. Gee, anyone sober person could make that mistake huh Brandon? Watch out Brando, because the popo are on your tail!

The New York Yankees traveling secretary David Szen pleaded guilty to filing a false tax return which omitted more than $50,000 in tips from players and coaches. Szen, who was fired by the Yankees, faces up to six months in prison and a fine of up to $100,000 plus the $10,285 in back taxes when he is sentenced on March 7th. Watch out Dave, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: Florida State is going to be a little short handed for their Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl and the first three games of the season after 20 players were suspended for cheating in an internet course...Rich Rodriguez, the new Michigan football coach will contest a $4 million buyout from his West Viriginia contract...The Awards keep coming for Florida Sophmore Tim Tebow. After becoming the first Sophmore Heisman Trophy winner, he was named AP Player of the Year...Congratulations to Rick Pitino on picking up his 500th career win with Louisville's 85-75 win over Marshall...Meanwhile at Pitino's old stomping ground Kentucky, they've hit their first four game slide since 1989 with their 83-69 loss to Houston...3 former and current Duke lacrosse players who were not directly involved in the rape case have sued the University, the prosecutor and others...Michael Jordan realizes it's probably not the best idea to play basketball professionally, but it doesn't stop him from running a pick-up game for his Charlotte Bobcats players during practice...Even with star Kobe Bryant being held to 19 points, the Lakers were still able to take care of the Bulls, 103-91...Jacques Lemaire notched his 1,000th win with the Wilds 3-2 victory over the Predators...In you thought Britney was the screw up news, 16 year old Jamie Lynn Spears has announced her pregnancy with live-in love Casey Alridge. Needless to say, Spears' mother Lynne's parenting book has been shelved indefinately.

Check this out: While the Writers Strike may stop the Globes and Oscars, it ain't stopping late night TV. Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno will be back on January 2nd! Dave Letterman, Craig Ferguson, The Daily Show and the Colbert Show have not announced a return date. Boo!

Speed Kills!

Formula One phenom Lewis Hamilton will have to be chauffeured around for the next month after he was caught speeding in France. Hamilton was apparently going 196 kph (123 mph) in his sporty Mercedes when he pulled over.
"He (Hamilton) recognized the infraction he had committed straight away," Dujardin said by telephone. "He was very courteous. The police officers then took him back to his hotel."
The car was impounded and later picked up by a friend because Lewis will not be allowed to drive in France for the next month. Oops! It is not known whether the 2007 runner-up will be allowed to drive in England.
Watch out Lewis, because the popo are on your tail!

Pink Jersey...Gross!

Hey kids, sorry for the lack of posting, I haven't been feeling super well. (and it isn't because Jeremy Shockey broke his leg)

Football Update:
The Bears kept super rookie Adrian Peterson in check for 3 quarters but in the end, Peterson was able to squeak by with a game winning TD giving the Vikings the 20-13 win over Chicago.

For a full recap of the weekend's games click here.

Maybe Jessica Simpson wasn't the only reason, Tony Romo had a bad day on Sunday, he also was nursing an injured thumb. Although we'd rather he dump the blonde bimbo than fix the thumb.

In other Cowboys' news, they'll be without safety Roy Williams for a game after the NFL suspended him for his third horse-collar call.

The Jets Kellen Clemens is iffy with an injured rib.

Tony Dungy will not rest his starters even though the Colts have secured a number 2 seed and a bye for the first round of the playoffs.

Five Falcons players were fined a total of $47,500 for uniform violations that stemmed from demonstrations that supported former teammate Michael Vick.

The Bills suffered the Red Wings travel drama on Sunday after their plane got stuck in the mud on a runway in Cleveland. The team was forced to take a bus home on Monday.

Following their first win of the season on Sunday, Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga said he is not actively looking to sell the team.

Watch out StubHub, the NFL and ticketmaster are treading on your territory.

Baseball Update:
(So I haven't posted in a while so some of this news, is a couple days old.)
The A's have traded Dan Haren and Conoor Robertson to the Arizona Diamondbacks for six prospects.

The Diamondbacks then traded Jose Valverde to Houston for Chris Burke, Chad Qualls and Juan Gutierrez.

Speaking of the Astors, a report says that Houston has made an offer to oft-injured Mark Prior.

The Rays have signed veteran outfielder Cliff Floyd to a one year, $2.75 million deal.

More Mitchell Report Fallout: Brian Roberts admitted to using steriods "once" while Andy Pettitte and Fernando Vina admitted to using HGH.

Indians pitcher Paul Byrd will meet with MLB to discuss HGH.

Suprise, suprise Arod and Scott Boras are not talking.

The Yankees have released their 2008 schedule. The final home game at Yankee Stadium will be played on September 21st against the Baltimore Orioles.

Braves Update:
The Braves have signed catcher Javy Lopez to a minor league deal. Lopez, who played with the Braves from 1992-2003, will be battling for a spot as a backup catcher in Spring Training.

Popo in my crib News:

Jason Kidd's off the court airball

Jason Kidd has already been accused of groping a 23 year old “model” at the Manhattan club Tenjune, but as these things tend to go, his accuser is now suing him for punitive damages.

According to papers filed, Kidd allegedly groped the woman on several occasions throughout the night going so far as putting his hand under her dress and slapping her cell phone out of her hand when she tried to text message a friend. He reportedly told her,

"If we have a fight, who do you think is going to win?"

Kidd, who is currently going through a messy divorce, has not been formally charged even though the accuser had made a formal complaint on October 17th, seven days after the incident allegedly occurred.

For his part, Kidd had denied any wrong doing when the case was first announced in October.

I’m confused; if you filed a police report and you believe that someone has violated your personal rights in such a way that he has broken the law, why not have his ass locked up in jail? Why do you always have to go after the money? I would think making him hang out with hundreds of big guys who would be happy to have a NBA player be their bitch would be way worse then fleecing him of hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions of dollars he wouldn’t miss anyway. Watch out Jason, because the popo are on your tail!

Love is in the Air

While you're cotemplating the lasting powers of Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson or wondering if Tony Parker really did cheat on Eva Longoria, another sports power couple has announced their engagement. Golfer Greg Norman and Tennis ace Chris Everet got engaged over the weekend while traveling from the US to South Africa. Everet modeled the ring during a press conference for her new tennis center at Pearl Valley Golf Estates.

The couple have been met with scandal every step of the way following their convient splits from spouses Lisa Andrassy and Andy Mill. (Everett had previously been married to John Lloyd rior to husband #2)After his near seemless move from Lisa to Chris, Norman was forced to give his ex a multimillion dollar settlement.

A date has not been set, but the pair seem very happy even though their exes are probably even more bitter than they were before.

While you were busy skimming the Mitchell Report...

Football Update:
The Texans were killing the Denver Broncos and keeping their slim hopes of a playoff spot alive with their 31-13 win. Mario Williams was finally able to show his #1 draft pick worth on a national stage with his 3 1/2 sacks of the Broncos' Jay Culter.

Ben Roethisberger missed Steelers practice on Thursday with a sore shoulder. His status is expected to be updated on Friday.

In other QB news, the Raiders have decided to start Josh McCown for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Raiders coach Lane Kiffin did say he is committed to giving Rookie JaMarcus Russell playing time during the game.

...And San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers practiced on Thursday and is expected to play against the Lions even though he is suffering from a sprained back.

The Redskins will be without right guard Randy Thomas for the remainder of the season. Thomas has been suffering from a ailing left arm.

The NFL will hear the Players' Union's appeal on behalf of Tennessee Titan Pacman Jones on Friday afternoon.

Baseball Update:
Before you go to ebay to buy the PDF of the Mitchell report know that you can get it for free here. But if you've got better things to do than read through 409 pages, you can get a list of players here.

And with the presentation of the report, denials have already begun including Roger Clemens, Mike Stanton and the Boston Red Sox.

The Chicago Tribune believes they'll have the sale of the Cubs done by the middle of 2008, but a new report says the Tribune Co. has asked the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority to acquire Wrigley Field.

David Eckstein is officially a Blue Jay after signing a one year, $4.5 million contract.

The Texas Rangers have signed Japanese reliever Kazuo Fukumori. A formal announcement is expected for Friday.

The Minnesota Twins signed SS Adam Everett for a one year, $2.8 million. Everett fills the hole left behind with Jason Bartlett's trade to the Rays.

The Oakland A's have signed reliever Kiko Calero to a one year deal.

The Black Sox papers sold for $100,000 at an auction topping 35 other bids.

Braves Update:
While there were not any current Braves players mentioned in the Mitchell Report, Atlanta Brave Hall of Famer David Justice was mentioned along with former pitcher Denny Neagle, former outfielder Gary Sheffield and former back up catcher Todd Pratt. None of these players steriod use was shown to be done during their time with the Braves.

Meanwhile, the Braves issued a statement:

"With the release of Senator Mitchell's report and Commissioner Selig's comments
on behalf of Major League Baseball, we mark a significant moment in baseball history.

For too long, all of us -- players, teams, media and especially our great fans -- have had to hear and read constantly about the issue of use and abuse of performance-enhancing substances.

We believe the Mitchell Report will allow us to move forward and continue the progress we have seen since Major League Baseball's drug-testing program began in 2002. Now we can look forward to a new day in baseball when we can focus on and enjoy this great game and the talented players who play it."

Popo in my crib News:
A new report says Michael Vick asked for leniency prior to receiving his 23 month sentence for his involvment in a dog fighting ring. Watch out Mikey, because the popo are on your tail!

Ford which landed Ford in the hospital...The Lakers handed a depleted San Antonio Spurs team a 102-97 loss...And Kobe is happy is wasn't traded, for now...The Washington Wizards snapped an 8 game road loss slide with their 104-91 win at Miami...Thirteen Ohio State players have filed NFL papers...Louisville's top RB Anthony Allen was granted his release from the program and is expected to transfer...The Knoxville News Sentinel is reporting that Duke has offered David Cutcliffe its head coaching job. I wonder if he read the job posting?...1500 people trudged in a wicked storm to see their Boston Bruins lose to the New Jersey Devils 3-1...The Philadelphia Flyers have inked Mike Richards to a 12 year, $69 million contract extension.

AROD is not a fan of Scott Boras

Alex Rodriguez officially became a New York Yankee...again with his signing of a 10 year, $275 million contract on Thursday. What would have been a simple re-signing turned into a daytime soap opera after he opted out of his contract during Game 4 of the World Series. Not shockingly, Alex was lead by his agent Scott Boras, but what is suprising is his calling out of Boras' actions.
“The whole thing was a mistake, a huge debacle,” Rodriguez said.
Turns out Alex wanted to be a Yankee the whole time and was under the impression that the Yanks weren't going to pony up so he followed his agent's lead. But when he discovered what was going down he took matters into his own hands.
“Once I made the conversation and reached out to Hank and Hal, within two conversations we got a deal done, which tells you how strong interest was on both sides."

How nice of Alex to try to deflect the reported storm that is going to rain down on the Yankees at around 2 PM today.

Christmas comes early

Football Update:
Following Bobby Petrino's abrupt departure, the Atlanta Falcons have promoted Emmitt Thomas to interim head coach for the final three games of the season.

Petrino was kind enough to leave his players a hand typed note which was addressed to Atlanta Falcon players (mail merge anyone?) and signed sincerely. I think peace out bitch would have been better, but I guess it wasn't seemly.

In other coaching news, UCLA has reportedly contacted Tennessee Titans coordinator Norm Chow about their vacant head coaching position.

The Saints are not ready to put Reggis Bush on IR just yet even though he tore his pcl in November and continued to play ineffectively for the Saints until last week. Bush believes he may be able to come back before the end of the season.

With Alex Smith out for the rest of the season, the 49ers have signed Chris Weinke.

T.O. is back, thank goodness. The laminated note, the TO towel, they were flashes of the old T.O. but his war of words with former Dallas Cowboy and current ESPN analyst Keyshawn Johnson is what we've all waited for. And way better than the press conference on his driveway. Oh, new old T.O. we're loving the style.

Baseball Update:
At 2 PM Thursday, the Mitchell Report will be released and according to reports it will include both MVPs and All-Stars, lots of Yankees but no current Mets, it will not include players who have publically tested positive to have illegal substances in their system and will center around the Mets clubhouse attendant. The evidence is shakey and the lack of player participation will bring this report into question.

Oh, And Bud Selig is having a press conference at 4:30 PM/est to discuss the Report. So that's not a good sign.

UPDATE: Mlb.com will have live video of the Mitchell Press Conference at 2.

Aaron Rowand signed a 5 year, $60 million deal with the San Francisco Giants. As my brother said, he must be opposed to both winning and making the playoffs. Yeah, that about sums it up.

Looks like the Giants deal with the Blue Jays is not happening as they've affirmed their desire to keep right hander Tim Lincecum.

Speaking of the Blue Jays, they may be close to signing shortstop David Eckstein.

Mark Prior's time with the Cubs has come to a close as the team failed to tender him a contract by Wednesday's deadline of 11 PM.

The Texas Rangers acquired first baseman Ben Broussard from the Seattle Mariners for minor leaguer Tug Hulett.

The Padres and Pirates are in talks to send outfielder Jason Bay to San Diego. The Padres were losers in the Andruw Jones and Kosuke Fukudome sweepstakes.

Mark Prior's time with the Cubs has come to a close as the team failed to tender him a contract by Wednesday's deadline of 11 PM.

News & Notes: A chipped tooth could not stop Steve Nash and the Suns from beating the Jazz 103-98...The Knicks got their buts kicked by a Rookie in their 117-110 loss to the SuperSonices. Kevin Durant had 30 in the win...Toronto Raptors PG T.J. Ford was released from an Atlanta area hospital after a scary fall during the Raptors win over the Hawks on Tuesday...Ottawa roasted Carolina in their 6-0 win...Ryan Pemberton has left Dale Earnhardt, Inc. He will be replaced by Doug Richert...Trouble in paradise for newlyweds Eva Longoria and Spur Tony Parker? They say no.

Tejada on the move

Rumors have been flying that the Orioles were working up a fire sale, and on Wednesday, the first shoe dropped. The O's have traded short stop Miguel Tejada to the Houston Astros for five players including outfielder Luke Scott, pitchers Matt Albers, Troy Patton and Dennis Sarfate and third baseman Mike Costanzo. Tejada, the 2002 AL MVP, has two years remaining on a six-year contract signed in December 2003.
Just two years ago, the Astros made it to the World Series on the backs of Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and Craig Biggio. But as the 2008 season opens, the 'stros will have a new look which could help Houston erase the bitter taste of 2007. Along with this mega deal, they have picked up second baseman Kaz Matsui through free agency as well as enhance their bullpen through a trades including one with the Atlanta Braves that brought them Oscar Villarreal and another with the Phillies which saw them send Brad Lidge to Philly for pitcher Geoff Geary, outfielder Michael Bourn and prospect Mike Costanzo.

Meanwhile, the O's are in shambles. They have horrible ownership, new coaching and are rumored to be offering Erik Bedard and all-star Brian Roberts to the highest bidder. Not to mention they happen to be in the same division as the Yankees and Red Sox who look to be holding the AL East ransom for the next five years.

Former F1 champ's new job

Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher used his driving skills to help get his family to the airport in time to make their flight. Schumacher was traveling from the small German village of Gehuelz near Coburg when he kicked the cab driver to the passenger seat and raced to the airport.
"It was crazy having Schumi driving, with me in the passenger seat," the taxi driver was quoted as saying.
Schumacher retired in after the 2006 season but has worked as a part time test driver for Ferrari. He is also the first billion dollar athlete in the world. Take the Tiger!

You've just been Mitchelled, boy!

Football Update:
After only 13 games, Atlanta Falcons head coach Bobby Petrino is jumping ship effective immediately. In 2006, Petrino signed a 10 year contract with Louisville which he nulfied when he signed a five year deal with Atlanta. Now Petrino has chosen to sign a 5 year deal with Arkansas. Watch out Arkansas, because Petrino will probably be somewhere new this time next year.

Turns out Jets head coach Eric Mangini knew how the Patriots were taping the coaches because his Jets had been caught doing the same exact thing the year before. Like teacher like pupil.

Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick has declared himself the coach of the Ravens for 2008, although management is staying pretty mum on the subject. Billick signed a four year extension following thier 13-3 season in 2006 but so far the Ravens have been a dismal 4-9.

Sexy Rexy wants to stay in Chicago, if they'll have him.

The Steelers will be without Aaron Smith for the rest of the season after tearing his biceps muscle during the Steelers loss to the Patriots on Sunday.

The Cardinals will be without tight end Leonard Pope after he was placed on IR with a dislocated right ankle. Oh, that sounds really painful.

Tampa Bay Bucs tight end Jerramy Stevens was suspended for one game because he doesn't know how spell his name properly and that he violated the League's substance abuse policy.

There's no rift between 49ers Alex Smith and coach Mike Nolan. Really, why don't you believe us, they are like two or three steps away from becoming the new Ben and Matt well maybe Brody and Spencer before the fallout.

The NFL is updating its disabilty policy for retired players hoping to allow them to access their benefits faster.

Meanwhile, Mike Ditka has dissolved his Hall of Fame Assistance Trust Fund amid criticism that money was not being distributed properly. The Fund was created to help needy retired players.

Get well wishes go out to St. Louis Rams owner Georgia Frontiere who entered a Los Angeles area hospital on Tuesday night with an undisclosed illness. Frontiere is 80 years old.

Baseball Update:
Like sand through the hour glass so is the Mitchell Report. As I type, MLB baseball officials are going through the report which is expected to be released to the public on Thursday. According to the New York Daily News, 60-80 names of former and current players will be on the list. Those names largely come from the testimony of former Mets clubhouse attendnat Kirk Radomski. But whether the names are new and unexpected remains to be seen. I hope Ashton Kutcher has a camera and goes from house to house and yells "You've been Mitchelled." And then everyone laughs because 60-80 names from over 20 years is pretty much a joke.

Speaking of steriods, Oakland Athletics minor league catcher Raul Padron was supsended for 50 games after testing positive to a performance-enhancing substance. He becomes the 29th minor leaguer to be suspended under the League's policy.

The Rockies have wrapped up a 3 year $30 deal with pitcher Aaron Cook.

Japanese outfielder Kosuke Fukudome signed a preliminary four year, $48 million contract with the Chicago Cubs. The Cubbies beat out other interested teams like the San Diego Padres.

The Padres did pick up free agent Tadahito Iguchi who was with the Phillies at the close of the 2007 season.

The Twins signed outfielder Craig Monroe to a one year deal worth $3.82 million after redoing the original contract that was brought to the Twins following his trade from the Cubs.

Jeff Kent notified the Dodgers he'll be back in 2008.

Turns out Paul Lo Duca's decision to sign a one year $5 million contract with the Nats was because he felt wanted there. Awww. And the fact that they'll play the Mets 18 times this season also was a small part. Oh and then there was the thing about the Nats being able to win the division, but I just figured he was running out reasons, although I can think of $5 million of them!

The Yankees have asked Carl Pavano to go to the minors and earn his spot back.

Popo in my crib News:
Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett plead not guilty to charges of disorderly conduct on Tuesday. Barnett was arrested on June 17th outside of Appleton night club after he was accused of pushing a woman during an argument. Watch out Nick, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: There's no coincidence that the Cavs end their 6 game losing streak when LeBron James re-entered the lineup on Tuesday...The Toronto Raptors beat teh Atlanta Hawks 100-88, but they also saw teammate T.J. Ford leave on stretcher...David Stern won't punish the Knicks or Isiah Thomas...Giving up a hat trick is bad, but giving up two will result in a big blow out, like the Flyers 8-2 trouncing of the Peguins...Les Miles did talk to Michigan, but only to help the University with its search. Uh, huh, did it involve, "I'll make a great head coach for the team, because"...The Big Ten will move to a 13 week schedule pushing their rivalry week to the weekend after Thanksgiving in 2009...Congratulations to Tiger Woods on being named PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third straight year...The IOC has officially striped Marion Jones of her metals and has banned her from the Bejing Olympics. Yeah, like she'd be any good with the roids...Sorry boys, but Jessica Alba's pregnant, and unless your name is Cash Warren, it's not your baby!
