Not another one

Braves Update:
Not only did the Braves lose for the fourth time in five games, but they also saw their all-star short stop Edgar Renteria reinjure his ankle in his first game back from the DL on Wednesday. Mark Teixeira stared at a questionable third strike to end the game in the Braves 4-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. On the flip side for the Braves, Brian McCann and Andruw Jones have remained hot, producing the only runs of the game. With the San Diego Padres beating the Mets, the Braves now are faced with a two game deficit in the Wild Card and six in the NL East with a little over a month to play. The Braves close out this series at 7:10 PM/est on SS.

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 6
Games above .500: 5
NL Wild Card Leader: San Diego Padres

Random Quote: "I don't have to say anything about it, because the game is on TV." - Mark Teixeira on the third strike call that ended the game for the Braves.

NASCAR Update:
Contray to popular belief, Jeff Gordon will not be appearing on NBC's Celebrity "Apprentice." Now I really have no reason to watch that show. (via jayski.com)

Congratulations to Johnny Benson who won the annual Wednesday Truck race at Bristol holding off Brendan Gaughan.

News & Notes: In there is no mercy rule in the Majors news, the Texas Rangers scored 30 runs to beat the Orioles 30-3 in the first game of their double header on Wednesday. The second was not quite as exciting as the Rangers only managed to put up 9 runs in their 9-7 sweep of the O's...This was on the same day that Baltimore announced their interim coach Dave Trembley would remain with the team through 2008...Brandon Webb ended his scoreless innings streak at 42 coming up 17 innings short of Orel Hershiser, but on the plus side the Diamondbacks beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2...Jerome Bettis is a sneaky guy, in his new book he claims he faked a knee injury in 2000 to avoid getting cut by Pittsburgh Steelers. I guess it worked because he ran for 1,341 yards that season...Finally, congratulations to Tom Brady and Bridget Moynahan on the birth of their son on Wednesday.
