Rewind

I didn't post on Wednesday because I was super busy, but I did want to finish off the non-waiver trade dealine coverage. Here's a look at what I may have missed:

NL
San Francisco Giants: In probably one of the odder trades of the season, the Giants traded P Matt Morris and his $13.7 million to the Pittsburgh Pirates for outfielder Rajai Davis and a player to be named later.

Houston Astros: The Astros traded reliever Dan Wheeler to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for infielder Ty Wiggington. They also got rid of Morgan Ensberg, who they had designated for assignment, by trading him to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later. Ouch!

Cincinnati Reds: The Reds traded Brian Shackelford and future condisderations to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for infielder Jorge Cantu and cash...While they sent pitcher Kyle Lohse to the Philadelphia Phillies for Matt Maloney.

AL
Texas Rangers: The Rangers became big sellers this year trading Mark Teixeira and Ron Mahay to the Braves for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Elvis Andrus, Matt Harrison, Neftali Feliz and Beau Jones...Kenny Lofton to the Cleveland Indians (3rd time a charm?) for minor league catcher Max Ramirez...And closer Eric Gagne to the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Kason Gabbard and minor leaguers David Murphy and Engel Beltre.

New York Yankees: The Yanks traded overused and under performing reliever Scott Proctor to the Los Angeles Dodgers for another bat on the bench in infielder Wilson Betemit. I'm pretty sure, even though his numbers aren't great this year, he's a better option than Miguel Cairo.

For a complete list of winners and losers check out foxsports' Ken Rosenthal's list and SI's Jon Heyman's list.

Don't forget, teams have until September 1st to set their post-season rosters, which means trading isn't completely over.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
