Happy Trails

The Braves disginated closer Bob Wickman for assignment on Friday following his game blowing pitch to Adam Dunn on Thursday. Wickman was apparently quite the cancer in the Braves' dugout and it seems Andruw Jones isn't too upset with his deptarture, telling reporters "We need guys who are willing to pitch and aren't just waiting for one situation to come up." Here are a few gems I learned after reading that article, Wickman is old, tempermental, selfish and loves brats boiled in beer. (Not too sure about that one, but he is from Wisconsin.)
In their first game without him, the Braves pulled off a solid 7-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. For now, they'll be looking to Rafael Soriano, Peter Moylan and the rest of the bullpen to pick up the slack. Maybe this will be what they need. Ok, it's more like I'm praying this will light the fire under their ass that will push them into the playoffs.

In other news, it looks like Michael Vick will be spending some time behind bars after announcing he'll plead guilty, admitting he bank rolled the dog fighting operations and that he was involved with killing the dogs. Luckily for Vick, he won't have to worry about missing any games because the NFL has given him an indifinate ban without pay. I guess he'll just have to live off that $30 million he's made so far.
I'm so excited for 2009's Longest Yard: The Michael Vick Story. You'll laugh, you'll cry, probably because you spent $15 on this movie instead of forking over $4 at Blockbuster for the Burt Reynolds classic. (I'm totally discounting the mess that was the 2006 version with Adam Sandler.) Watch out Mike, because the popo are on your tail!

UPDATE: In Ricky Williams, is that you news, Michael Vick might not be as wealthy as he thinks he is if the Falcons have their way. A new report says claims Atlanta is asking that his $22 million signing bonus be returned. CFL here he comes.
