Chicks dig the long ball

Braves Update:
Brian McCann got the game going with a bang, hitting his third career grand slam in the first inning and the Braves never looked back. Mark Teixeira added two more homeruns in the Braves 14-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Big Tex has been battling the flu but you wouldn't know it with his 4 homeruns in 24 hours. Tim Hudson moved to 95-1 when given a three run lead and 15-5 on the season. Even better the Braves are now just a game behind in the Wild Card. Their series against the Reds continues with JoJo Reyes stepping in for Chuck James on the mound. Watch the game live on SS at 7:10 PM/est.

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 5
Games above .500: 7
NL Wild Card Leader: San Diego Padres

Braves Update: Chuck James will rest for the next week to help with his inflamed left shoulder.

NASCAR Update:
NASCAR will try for the third straight day to get the 3M Performance 400 underway. The race is scheduled to start at 10 AM/est on EPSN2. If NASCAR can not get at least half of the scheduled distance in, the race will be moved to the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Fun Fact: According to jayski.com, the last time a Cup race was held on a Tuesday was August 11, 1970 at International Raceway Park in Ona, WV.

News & Notes: Bobby Jenks' ended his consecutive outs streak at 41, putting him at a tie with
Joey Gathright. But luckily for the White Sox, they were able to get the 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals...The Mets picked up Jeff Conine from the Cincinnati Reds on Monday for two minor league players. This comes just a day after they put Damion Easley on the 15 day DL with a sprained ankle...ARod hit his 40th homerun of the season in the Yankees 7-6 extra innings loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, while Prince Fielder hit his 39th homer in the Brewers 9-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, putting the Brew Crew in control of the NL Central...Taking the Matt Leinart path, Tom Brady has asked for time off to bare witness to the birth of his child with former girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. Only time and Coach Bill Belichick will know the answer...Kevin Durant and Nick Collison were dropped from the U.S. team who are currently competing in the FIBA Americas tournament, which is an Olympic qualifier...Finally, blind golfer Sheila Drummond heard the sweet sound of her hole in one at the par-3 fourth hole at Mahoning Valley Country Club. Drummond, who was blinded by diabetes 26 years ago, was playing with her husband and two friends when she cleared the 144 yard shot. Seriously, you've got no excuses now!

Check this out: Lori McKenna is an amazing artist who is best known as the songwriter behind three great songs on Faith Hill's multiplatnium cd Fireflies. On this summer's Unglamorous McKenna strikes out on her own singing poetic songs that paint the picture of a Massachusetts mother of five's personal struggles with life and love. My favorite tracks are "Unglamorous" and "I'm Not Crazy." You can hear clips of her album from her myspace page here and at cmt.com.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
