No more extra innings

Counting Crows

So I didn't actually end up going to Great Adventure on Wednesday (too cold and rainy) but I did see Counting Crows and Live at First Energy Park aka the Lakewood Blue Claws home park. Here's a clip from the show.

Braves Update:
What made the Braves close to unbeatable in the first month and a half of the season was their ability to come from behind in the seventh, eighth and ninth and get those timely hits to win close games. Since then, the Braves have begun to mirror their 2006 team not their 1991-2005 teams. Case in point, Thursday's see-saw battle against the Cincinnati Reds. Buddy Carlyle was roughed up allowing six runs in five innings, but the Braves battled back tying it at five a piece in the bottom of the fifth before the Reds scored again to make it 6-5. The Braves grabbed two more in the seventh to again take the lead before the Reds evened it up. The game remained tied for another 4 1/2 innings until closer Bob Wickman allowed a walk off homerun by Adam Dunn in the Braves 9-7 loss. Fun fact, the last time Dunn delivered a walk off homer was against the Cleveland Indians and guess who was pitching...Bob Wickman! The Braves are not out of it, but they need to treat everyday like it's the playoffs if they want to make the post season. Check out the Braves taking on the St. Louis Cardinals tonight at 8:10 PM/est on SS.

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 6
Games above .500: 4
NL Wild Card Leader: San Diego Padres

Braves Notes: The Braves put Edgar Renteria back on the disabled list one day after taking him off...Octavio Dotel will throw a bullpen session on Friday to test his sore right shoulder. He was eligible to come off the DL on Thursday...With the Braves well documented pitching woes, it's great to see Rookie reliver Manny Acosta pitching five scoreless innings.

NASCAR Update:
NASCAR is back at Thunder Valley and the excitement could not be any greater. With only three more races before the Chase, it's anybody's game. Bristol's wrecks can usually produce mass casualties because the big one is not just reserved for Talladega and Daytona, so one small slip and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. or Ryan Newman could take your place. Look for Bristol masters like the streaking Kurt Busch and points leader Jeff Gordon to dominate. Don't believe me, watch for yourself on Saturday Night, under the lights, when ESPN brings you the Sharpie 500 at 8 PM/est.

Mark Martin and Aric Almirola will split time in the #8 car for DEI in 2008 leaving room for a big time driver like maybe Greg Biffle to come in 2009...

Popo in my crib News:

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Ried's son Britt was at it again on Thursday, this time at a Dick's Sporting Goods parking lot in Plymouth Township. Britt failed an administered field sobriety test but charges have not been filed in what could be a parking lot DUI. Luckily, only one shopping cart was injured in his drunken stupper. But that doesn't mean Britt isn't facing some court appointed cell time. He is awaiting sentencing on his January 30th road rage case. Watch out Britt, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: It was an exciting night for baseball on Thursday when the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians, who are battling for the AL Central, emerged from the ninth inning with a scoreless game. But in extra innings, the bats came alive for the Indians who beat the Tigers 3-1...The Mets and Padres went back and forth all night with the Holy Men taking out Queens' finest 9-8...No record breaker here, as Albert Pujols ended his consecutive games homerun streak at 5 and his team didn't fair any better losing to the Marlins 11-3...The Los Angeles Dodgers may have had quite the banner day picking up veteran pitcher David Wells while beating the Phillies 5-2...Reggie Miller will not be making a comeback telling the Indianapolis Star, "Physically, I know I could have done it. But mentally, when you do something like this, you've either got to be all in or all out." Physically, really?...In too bad Tiger isn't there news, Rory Sabbatini is leading The Barclays after Thursday. Sabbatini must play his best games when he's not going head to head with Tiger Woods, although he may think otherwise. The Barclays is the first round of the PGA's inagural FedEx Open...And finally, yesterday I posted a new addition to the blog, a poll. I want to gage your feelings on which postseason system you think is dumber, the FedEx Cup of the Chase for the Nextel Cup.

Check this out: We here love our convicted felons and apparently so does Sports Illustrated. Check out their list here.

It's been fun blogging with you,
