This is how a heart breaks

Braves Update:
Jose Reyes scored early for the Mets but the Braves were able to come back in the sixth with a two run double by Chipper Jones. A Mark Teixeira single drove in Jones and gave the Braves a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the seventh. But then the wheels fell off. John Smoltz allowed two guys to get on base and Luis Castillo drove in two runs to even up the game. Moises Aluo put the nail in the coffin with his eighth inning solo shot off of Alfonso Soriano. Even though the Braves had the bases loaded with no outs in the ninth they were unable to come up with a run, losing another heartbreaker 4-3. The Braves look to take the series this afternoon with Tim Hudson going against John Maine. Coverage starts at 12:10 PM/est on TBS. Let's go Braves!

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 4.5
Games above .500: 6
NL Wild Card Leader: San Diego Padres

NASCAR Update:
Kasey Kahne will compete at this year's Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, IA. Saturday's championship will be shown on Speed.

Who says Robby Gordon doesn't have a conscience? Gordon who intentionally wrecked Marcos Ambrose on Saturday preventing him from picking up his first Busch Series win, has offered Ambrose a Cup ride for Sunday's race at Watkins Glen. Here Robby's explanation here.

News & Notes: Starting pitcher Dontrelle Willis hit a homerun but the Florida Marlins still fell 6-4 to the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday, giving Kyle Lohse his first win in a Phillies uniform...The Boston Celtics have asked Reggie Miller to unretire. The soon to be 42 year old has confirmed talks between the two sides...With Seattle's 8-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday and the Blue Jays 15-4 shelling of the Yankees and the Tigers' 7-1 loss to the Devil Rays, the Mariners, somewhat out of nowhere, are the current AL Wild Card leaders...Finally, by now you've all heard about 756 (and maybe even Bonds' 757) but how about the lucky fan who caught, well really tackled and manhandled other fans to get 756? His name: Matt Murphy, a 22 year old Queens kid with an apparent love for the New York Mets, who on a whim headed over to AT&T Park to witness history and instead became a small part of it. Hopefully this guy doesn't end up in some sort of lawsuit.

It's been fun blogging with you,
