We are the Champions

Baseball: Tribe ace Cliff Lee may have lost a no-hitter in the eighth, but he was still able to hold onto a 3-0 shut-out of the Cards...The Yankees destroyed the Mets, 15-0. Let's just say it was not Johan Santana's day...Prior to the Mets embarrassment, Yankees pitcher Brian Bruney and Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez got into a shouting match...The Brewers' Trevor Hoffman blew his first save as the White Sox won, 5-4...The Rockies streak reached 11 games after they downed the Mariners, 7-1...The Cubs ended their four game slide, edging the Twins 3-2...Chicago fired hitting coach Gerald Perry...The Phillies scored six in the seventh, rallying to beat the Red Sox, 11-6 and avoding the weekend sweep...Unable to avoid a sweep were the Reds who fell to the Royals, 7-1...The Royals placed Coco Crisp on the DL...In other injury news, the A's Eric Chavez, the Angels Scot Shields and the Rockies Taylor Buchholz will miss the remainder of the season with injuries...While Jake Peavy will be out for at least a month, putting a crink in all those trade rumors...Speaking of rumors, Nats manager Manny Acta maybe fired. Oh yeah, because he's the true reason why they are terrible.

Basketball: The Lakers put away the Magic, 99-86 to win their 15th NBA title...Kobe Bryant was named the Finals MVP...It was Phil Jackson's 10th NBA title...Apparently the fans in LA were very excited about the win. Maybe a little too excited for the popo's taste...Shaq may or may not be traded to Cleveland.

Football: It's going to be a while before Plaxico Burress knows whether he's going to jail...Kyle Orton will be the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos...Troy Aikman has finally graduated from UCLA after leaving the school early to become the QB of the Dallas Cowboys.


Hockey: The Pens held off the Red Wings, 2-1 to win the Stanley Cup...Sucks for you Marion Hossa...Evgeni Malkin was given the Conn Smythe Trophy (MVP of the Stanley Cup Finals)...Turns out Pens D Sergei Gonchar was playing with a torn MCL. That's my kind of player...Looks like we have the NHL version of handshake gate. Only this time the star player involved is Sidney Crosby...Fans are already lining up for the Penguins victory parade scheduled to take place on Monday at noon...Congratulations also go out to the AHL Hershey Bears who defeated the Manitoba Moose, 4-1 to win the Calder Finals.
