Follow the Leader



Baseball: Mark Reynolds three run homer lifted the D'backs and ended a marathon 18 inning game against the Padres, 9-6...Speaking of game winning homeruns, Alfonso Soriano led off the 14th inning with a tie-breaking rocket in what became a three run inning in the Cubs 6-3 victory over the Reds...Ryan Howard, Carlos Ruiz and Shane Victorino all went deep against former Phillie Randy Wolf in Philadelphia's 7-2 pounding of the Dodgers...Chipper Jones out sparkled pitcher Tommy Hanson in his major league debut. But either way, Atlanta ended up edging the Brewers 8-7, avoiding a sweep...Tom Glavine may file a grievance against the Braves...And Pirates GM Neal Huntington tried to explain to season ticket holders why they continue to trade their best players to other teams...Roy Halladay is the first pitcher to reach 10 wins after the Blue Jays blanked the Royals, 4-0...Vin Mazzaro has yet to give up a run in just his second major league start as the Athletics stiffled the Orioles, 3-0...Get well wishes go out to Baltimore short stop Cesar Izturis who underwent an appendectomy on Friday...The Yankees notched their 20th come from behind victory of the season, stunning the Rays, 4-3...The Rangers won their first series in Boston in 12 years thanks to a 6-3 effort.

Basketball: The Lakers hold a two games to none lead after topping the Magic, 101-96 in OT...The All-Star game is going Hollywood for 2011...LSU Tasmin Mitchell has withdrawn his name from the draft.

Football: Brett Favre underwent surgery to repair his shoulder. Ugh!...George Strait and Reba McEntire opened up the Cowboys' new stadium with a rocking concert...Oh and Dallas may bring back Pacman Jones. Huh?

Hockey: The Wings whipped the Pens, 5-0 on Saturday to push Pittsburgh to the brink of elimination...According to Gary Bettman, there are four groups interested in purchasing the Coyotes...It seems 2009 is the year of knocking down old stadiums. First Shea, then Detroit says they'll finish the job on old Tiger Stadium and now the old home to the Buffalo Sabres Memorial Auditorium is no longer.

Best of the Rest: Congratulations to Roger Federer on winning the French Open. He is now tied with Pete Sampras with 14 grand slam titles...Congrats also go out to Tiger Woods who won his fourth Memorial Tournament title...Shaq started the IndyCar race and Helio Castroneves finished it with his third win at Texas.

Check this Out: Thanks to Karen, I was able to get my hands on tickets to the Broadway musical "9 to 5." Not being a huge Broadway buff, I was a little nervous, but my fears were calmed the minute the curtain went up.
