Strike a Pose

Baseball: It was a quiet night for New York with both the Mets and Yankees being held scoreless in their defeats...The Yankees are hoping CC Sabathia will be able to make his scheduled start on Friday...Oh and their protest has been squashed like a bunch of 60 year old hippies running into the National Guard outside of Penn Station...The Phillies bounced back from getting swept over the weekend, pounding the Rays, 10-1...Grady Sizemore went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in his first game back from the DL. Not bad for a guy who skipped a rehab assignment. The Indians, meanwhile, held on for the 5-4 victory over the Pirates...Eric Wedge maybe on the hot seat, but he's not talking about it...While Manny Ramirez was going hitless for the Isotopes, the Dodgers were cruising to a 5-2 victory over the White Sox. Looks like the Dodgers would be better off if Manny stayed in Albuquerque...The Angels cooled down the Rockies, 6-3. Well for one night at least...Ryan Raburn's homerun lifted the Tigers past the Cubs, 5-4...Former Cub Ryne Sandberg does not think Sammy Sosa should be in the Hall of Fame...Royals Manager Trey Hillman did not think Zach Greinke had his best stuff, but I think the Astros may disagree after they fell to Kansas City, 2-1. It was Greinke's first win since May 26th...Joey Votto admits the stress of his father's death "totally overwhelmed" him and forced him out of the Reds lineup. In his first game back with the team, Votto got a hit, but the Reds fell to the Blue Jays, 7-5...President Barack Obama will throw out the first pitch at the All Star Game in St. Louis.

Basketball: The Bucks have traded Richard Jefferson to the Spurs in a three team trade that also included the Pistons...The Timberwolves are close to a deal that would land them the 5th pick in the draft. Apparently Minnesota is already hording for the winter...Phil Jackson is mulling over a plan that would literally have him calling it in from his couch during the Lakers road games. I wasn't aware that NBA coaches had a telecommuting option...The Philadelphia 76ers are going retro with their logo.

Football: The Packers are working on a deal to extend WR Greg Jennings' contract...The Chiefs will retire the number 58 for the late Derrick Thomas.

Hockey: Congratulations to Steve Yzerman, Brian Leetch, Brett Hull, Luc Robitaille and others on being named to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Brett Hull and his father Bobby are the first father and son combo to be named to the Hall of Fame...Mike Babcock will coach Canada's 2010 men's Olympic hockey team...Brent Sutter was announced as the head coach of the Flames and his former boss Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek is not happy about it! You don't always get what you want, even if you're ridiculously rich. It's a good lesson to learn Jeff.

Nascar: Richard Petty Motorsports will stick with Dodge for 2009...Now that Kasey Kahne broke his 37 race winless streak, who will be next?

Check this Out: With a hit summer movie to her credit, Rolling Stone looks at Sandra Bullock's best and worst movies. Click here to see which made the list. And if you haven't seen The Proposal I'd suggest checking out. It's a very cute rom-com and for the girls, Ryan Reynolds shows off almost all of the goods.
