He's going the Distance

Baseball: The Yankees remain winless against the Red Sox this season after being bombed, 7-0. David Ortiz hit just his third homerun of the season...In other rivals news, the Mets edged the Phillies, 6-5...Phillies closer Brad Lidge hit the DL with a sprained knee...Meanwhile the Mets don't know why they'll get Jose Reyes back...Miguel Cabrera's solo shot in the 10th gave the Tigers a 8-7 win over the ChiSox...White Sox righty Bartolo Colon was placed on the DL with inflammation in his left knee...The Twins doubled up the A's 10-5, ending Oakland's seven game win streak...The Blue Jays look like they are back on track after pounding the Rangers, 9-0...Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Litsch will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery...Scott Schoeneweis returned to the Diamondbacks 21 days after his wife passed away...Manny Ramirez visited his teammates. I am sure they just loved that. haha...As expected the Nationals drafted Stephen Strasburg with the number one overall pick in Tuesday's draft. Now let's see how much he signs for.

Basketball: The Magic cut into the Lakers series lead in half with their 108-104 victory...The Kings have hired Paul Westphal as their latest head coach...The Raptors traded Jason Kapono to the 76ers for Reggie Evans.

Football: Brett Favre's family have booked rooms in Green Bay for the Packers/Viking game. I am hoping this is just some family vacation and not to see Brett play but I fear I am wrong...In other can't we just get over this story news, Brett Favre did not show up to Vikings OTAs. What does that mean, four more months of torture!...The Steelers got their Super Bowl rings...Tom Brady needs to be a little bit more careful around kayaks.

Hockey: The Penguins have forced a game seven thanks in part to a brillant performance by goalie Marc-Andre Fluery in their 2-1 win...Devils coach Brent Sutter has resigned citing family reasons...The Flyers are expected to announce that they have signed goalie Ray Emery.

Nascar: Michael Waltrip is leaning towards a partial schedule for 2010...Which I guess he is starting this season since Patrick Carpentier will race in the #55 at Sonoma.

Best of the Rest: USC coach Tim Floyd has resigned a month after the O.J. Mayo story broke...It appears a drug overdose was to blame for F1 boss Max Mosley's son Alexander's death...Just two weeks after the tragic death of his daughter, Mike Tyson has married.
