Two Beers + Purse = Bad

A 21 year old was sent to the hospital after he tripped and fell at a Senators game on Wednesday night. According to eyewitnesses:

“The man sailed headfirst past and over a few stunned onlookers in the rows ahead of his seat before clearing the low railing at the bottom of the third level and falling onto a row of seats in the level immediately below.”

He was reportedly not drunk at the time but was carrying two beers in his hands when he tripped on a purse and fell. The three people he landed on suffered minor injuries.

Is it just me or are these accidents at sports venues happening in droves? In the past couple of years, there have been three incidents at Yankee Stadium, one which resulted in the death of a 37 year old, one in which a man broke his neck and one in which a teenager moronically jumped into the net behind home plate. Plus there were the deaths at Shea Stadium, Turner Field and Monster Park in just the past 12 months and injures suffered from falls at Soldier Field, Fenway Park and just yesterday at Stadio Friuli in Udine. I don’t think Stadiums should stop selling alcohol, but I do think something needs to be done to prevent these things from happening. And no I don’t think this is the best way to weed out unfit human beings, because not only are these people hurting themselves, they have also found ways to injure fans around them. And frankly I don't want a drunk or sober person falling on me at a game!
