Enjoy it While it Lasts


Baseball: Abritration was the name of the game on Monday. The Brewers offered it to CC Sabathia and Ben Sheets, but not Eric Gagne while the Dodgers gave out a branch to Casey Blake, Manny Ramirez and Derek Lowe, the Angels gave it to Mark Teixeira and K-Rod and the Rockies offered some love to Brian Fuentes...However the Yankees did not offer arbitration to Andy Pettitte or Bobby Abreu, nor did the Mets to Pedro Martinez nor the A's to Frank Thomas...Mike Hampton is going to the Astros...Don't expect Rafael Furcal to sign on the dotted line until the Winter Meetings...Rickey Henderson made the Hall of Fame Ballot. Basketball: The Celtics make it 9 straight with their 107-88 victory over the Magic...The Miami Heat rallied for a 130-129 OT win...Who knew crazy was a turn-on for some NBA teams? Because reportedly, Stephon Marbury has a couple of suitors...Of course none of them would be his current team the Knicks, who have cut off ties with their troubled star...Sad news, the WNBA's Houston Comets is expected to fold.

College Basketball: The latest AP Top 25 has been released and the Big East is home to eight of them.

Football: The Texans had quite a Monday Night Football debut, crushing the Jaguars, 30-17...Another QB bites the dust in Cleveland. Derek Anderson will join Brady Quinn on extended vacation after tearing his MCL during Sunday's game...If you've got nothing to do on Wednesday and you live in San Diego, why not head over to the San Diego Library to view "Leaf" an 82 minute film about Ryan Leaf. An oscar contender I'm sure...Speaking of movies, I can't wait until this is reinacted on ESPN Classic. Although, something tells me The Michael Vick Story will be out first...The NFL will continue their London game in 2009 with the Buccaneers "hosting" the Patriots.

Hockey: Marion Hossa's goal in the 3rd period helped the Red Wings to soar past the Ducks, 2-1...Matt Stajan and Mikhail Grabovski scored two power play goals within a minute and half of each other as the Maple Leafs beat the Kings, 3-1...The Predators blanked the Sabres, 2-0...Paul Stastny had two goals and an assist as the Avalanche edged out the Wild, 6-5...Moscow prosecutors are placing the blame for Russian star and Ranger prospect Alexei Cherepanov's death on an ice arena manager and the hockey club director.

Best of the Rest: Lance Armstrong is racing in the Tour de France in 2009...Ryan Pemberton will take over crew chiefing duties on the #83 Red Bull Toyota driven by Brian Vickers. Red Bull also announced Scott Speed with drive the #82 car in 2009, not the #84...Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo wins the Golden Ball, given to the European Footballer of the Year...Michael Phelps has been named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year.
