The Popo Awards: Best Mangerial Freak Out

Yesterday we announced the nominees for Best Use of a Bat. It was a tough decision, Martin Prado's bat toss was practically a once in a lifetime event, and Joes Offerman's useage cost him his job and possibly his freedom, so we had to give it to Alex Rodriguez. Congrats!

Best Mangerial Freakout

Phillip Wellman (AA-Mississippi Braves) June 1, 2007
Wellman took the art of managerial freak outs to another level. We especially love when he pretends the resin bag is a grenade. While he did get suspended for three games by the Braves organization, we're pretty sure ticket sales jumed for the AA club. It's almost better than the zooperstars.

Lou Pinella June 2, 2007
Before his little freak out the Chicago Cubs were a woeful 21-33 and 7.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers tied for fourth in the NL Central. Since then they've gone 59-40 and lead the Brewers by a game in the Central. Sometimes your team just needs a little push, huh Lou?

Bobby Cox #132
It took Bobby 7 1/2 weeks to break the ejection record set by John McGraw. This one shows why he is such a great manager. Chipper Jones ends the inning on a called third strike and argues with the umpire. Cox jumps out of the dugout and gets himself ejected over his MVP third baseman. Good thing, Jones went on to hit the game winner.

Check back tomorrow for the results.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
