I'm high off Mark Teixeira's amazingness

Braves Update:
Mark Teixeira started off the night with a three run homer bringing his RBI total to 52 in his first 50 games with the Braves and his season total over 100. But even with that early lead, Chuck James allowed the Phillies to tie the game in the fourth inning. But the Braves weren't willing to go down without a fight culminating in their four run sixth. Chipper Jones added a two run homer in the ninth to give the Braves a 10-6 win over the Phils. But with the San Diego Padres picking up a win on Tuesday, the Braves are still three games back in the Wild Card with only five games remaining. They continue their series with the Phillies tonight at 7:05 PM/est on ESPN.

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 5
Games above .500: 9
NL Wild Card: San Diego Padres

Braves Notes: Rumors of a payroll cut for the Braves in 2008 were news to Braves chairman and president Terry McGuirk. Which is a good thing because they have to pay big bucks to John Smoltz, Chipper Jones and Mike Hampton while looking to lock up Mark Teixeira and maybe give Andruw Jones one last go round. Not to mention they need a quality pitcher to shore up their rotation...Meanwhile, it seems Mark Teixeira has really been enjoying his time in a Braves uniform...Rafael Soriano had his appeal heard by Major League officials. Soriano had been given a four game suspension after he hit Dan Uggla with a pitch last Monday. No word on whether the suspesion will be upheld...The Phillies claimed T.J. Bohn off waivers. Bohn had been designated for assignment with JKevin Barry to make room for Jeff Bennett and Brandon Jones on the 40 man roster. Barry cleared waivers and was reassigned to AAA-Richmond...Congratulations to John Smoltz who will be honored for his community service with the 2007 Branch Rickey Award for humanitarian service in November.

NL Standings

Baseball Notes: The San Diego Padres have taken sole possession of the lead in the Wild Card with their dramatic 6-4 win over the San Francisco Giants...While the Colorado Rockies extended their streak to 9 games with their 9-7 win over the Dodgers...Dontrelle Willis may be Brewers new best friend after picking up just his third win since Masy 29th in the Marlins 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs...But I'm also sure the Brew Crewers are in love with Prince Fielder who became the youngest player to ever hit 50 homeruns in Milwaukees' 9-1 victory cutting the Cubbies lead down to 2 in the NL Central...Bad news for the Yankees? They lose to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7-6 in 10 innings and they'll be without Roger Clemens until the playoffs. But then again they still are just one win away from clinching a playoff spot, so things can't be that bad can they?...The Pirates announced that Neal Huntington will be their new GM. Huntington is a former Cleveland Indians assistant GM who was moved into scouting...And the Pirates are willing to pay for some medicore players next year. Raising their current payroll of $38.6 million to about $45 to $50 million. Baby steps...Meanwhile the Phillies will be looking for a new GM in 2009 after Pat Gillick announced he's done after 2008...And Finally, voting is closed and Barry Bonds' 756 ball will get an asterisk. This is so way fans shouldn't be allowed to vote on anything including the All-Star game!

NASCAR Update:
Carl Edwards was docked 25 championship points and crew chief Bob Osborne was fined $25,000 after his car was deemed too low following Sunday's Cup race in Dover. Edwards moved from third in points to sixth. But Roush Fenway Racing has filed an appeal.

Tony Raines was fined $15,000 and docked 25 points in the Busch Series for throwing his helmet at Robby Gordon's car. It's not Robby hasn't done that before.

Chicagoland has announced they will install lights so they can host two night races in 2008. How old is this track? Six years old, maybe. Why didn't they install lights in the first place?

Popo in my crib News:
An arrest warrant is out for Michigan's deffensive end Brandon Graham for skipping his scheduled trial date on September 18th. Graham was charged with disorderly conduct involving loud music on July 24th. Apparnelty he was pulled over by the popo for having his stero blasting his ride. Graham had pleaded not guilty on August 2nd. Watch out Brandon, becuase the popo are on your tail!
