play like you've got nothing to lose

Braves Update:
It was more than a few missed called balls and strikes that did the Braves in on Tuesday, it was once again their inability to score more than one run with the bases loaded. Chipper Jones provided the only two RBIs of the game in the form of a solo shot and a walk, but two runs were two to few in the Braves 5-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves have a businessman's special with a 1 PM/est start time in their final game of this series against the Phils. Rout for your home team by watching the game on TBS. (or gameday if you're at work)

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 8.5
Games above .500: 1
NL Wild Card Leader: Arizona Diamondbacks/San Diego Padres

Braves Notes: Chipper Jones went on a lengthy tirade following the game complaining about the questionable strike zone the Braves saw on Tuesday night. He told reporters "You're seeing a lot of frustration being taken out on the field right now and you're going to continue to see it from now on as long as the officiating is abysmal. They're not allowing us to do our job. All we ask for is a fair fight. Just let us do our job." He also said he was not afraid of a fine by MLB. A fine, I'm not worried about, suspension, now that's a problem...Edgar Renteria felt no discomfort in his ankle after taking grounders on Tuesday. He's been through this before, like two weeks ago and remains guarded on when he'll be back in the lineup...Martin Prado was promoted from AAA-Richmond...Mark Teixeira earned NL Player of the Month honors for August.

NASCAR Update:
Tony Eury, Jr. will be following Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to Hendrick Motorsports next season.

In other 2008 Hendrick news, Casey Mears will move over to the #5 car next season to make room for Earnhardt, Jr. in the #25 (which will be a different number in 08). Mears' crew chief Darian Grubb will be promoted to a senior competition role within the organization. Mears' crew chief will be Alan Gustafson who has been crew chiefing for Kyle Busch since 2005. Is this Mears' fourth new team since he began in 2003?

J.J. Yeley will be moving over to Hall of Fame Racing in 2008. Yeley, who is currently driving for Joe Gibbs Racing will replace Tony Raines. Which is a shame, because I think Raines is a far better stock car driver than Yeley. It's really a question of the equipment's quality more so than the driver.

Kenny Wallace will replace Ricky Rudd in the #88 this weekend at Richmond after Rudd separated his shoulder in a crash at California last Sunday.

Popo in my crib News:
Rashad Arthur Raliegh was charged with second degree murder in the beating death of former Villanova Star Howard Porter on Tuesday. Porter was trying to trade money and crack cocaine for sex with a prostitute when he was beaten to death. Watch out Rashad, because the popo are on your tail!

Shawn Taggart and Jeff Robinson pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct on Tuesday after being arrested over the weekend in connection with a scuffle outside of the Plush Club. The University of Memphis basketball players, who claim to have been at the wrong place at the wrong time should just limit themselves to dorm/frat parties where if caught by campus police they would probably get a ride back in a golf cart to their dorm. Watch out Shawn and Jeff, because the popo are on your tail!

The five UAB basketball players that were arrested over the weekend at a dance club will face disciplinary actions by the University coach Mike Davis said on Tuesday. The five players, Edward Berrios, Kennan Ellis, Walter Sharpe, Channing Toney and Robert Varden were supposedly fighting amongst themselves before the action spilled onto the sidewalk. Toney faces more serious charges because he was a moron and tried to one up the popo. You cannot threaten the popo and think you're going to get away with it! Watch out Eddie, Kenny, Walty, Channy and Robby, because the popo are on your tail!

Duquesne's Stuard Baldonado was suspended indefinitley after he was arrested on drug conspiarcy charges. Things haven't been going so well for Stu, he was shot on September 17th after an on-campus dance. Watch out Stuard, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: Rivals Josh Beckett and Chien-Ming Wang picked up their 17th wins of the season with the BoSox 5-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays and the Yanks 12-3 win over the Mariners...Good news/bad news for the Baltimore Orioles, they won 8-4 over the Devil Rays but their ace, Erik Bedard is down with a strained oblique...Miguel Cabrera became the third youngest player to hit 500 RBIs in the Marlins 4-3 loss to the Nationals...Sad news, Shaq filed for divorce from his wife of five years, Shaunie O'Neal. The couple has four children together and one each from previous relationships...In it can't get any worse news, Notre Dame will start freshman Jimmy Clausen at QB in their game against Penn State on Saturday...And finally, the D-Backs moved into a statistical tie with the San Diego Padres in the NL West after their 9-1 win on Tuesday.
