Phantastic

Baseball: The Tigers finally found a way to get to Carl Pavano in their 7-2 victory over the Twins. The win puts them a safe three games in front of Minnesota. I guess we'll never know who would have gotten dibs on the Metrodome...The Braves effectively knocked themselves out of the playoffs with their 5-4 loss to the Marlins. Ricky Nolasco had 16 Ks in the win...The Phillies secured their third straight NL East crown...But there was some bad news for the Phils, Jamie Moyer will miss the rest of the season including the postseason after he tore three muscles in his groin and lower abdomen...Now this is starting to get a bit ridiculous. The Dodgers were shut out 5-0 by the Padres and once again failed to lock up the NL West...With the Rockies out slugging the Brewers, 10-6, Colorado just might walk in as a Division winner not a Wild Card...A team that will definitely not be a wild card is the Giants, who despite a 4-1 win over the D'Backs were eliminated from playoff contention. Get yourself some bats, and you'll be back in the thick of things next year. Especially with these guys in your rotation...In their final regular home game of the season, the Yankees fell to the Royals, 4-3 in personally what felt like NY football Giants mid-November weather...Attendance also went down by 13% at the new Yankee Stadium, although they are blaming it on a smaller capacity at the new ballpark and not outrageous ticket prices.

Basketball: Delonte West was missing in action for the second straight day...Speaking of the Cavs, Are LeBron James and Shaq soulmates? Well the words made for each other were being thrown around...The Knicks Eddie Curry will be out three-to-five days with a calf injury...Also on the injury brigade are the Warriors' C.J. Watson...The Kings' Tyreke Evans...And the Thunder's James Harden.

College Football: Finally, a good use of twitter! USC RB Stafon Johnson took to his twitter page to say "Thank you every1 4 all the love and support."...One of the three Houston helmets that were taken during an on-field celebration following their 29-28 victory over Texas Tech has been returned.

Football: Nike and Michael Vick partners in crime once again...The Browns have decided to go with Derek Anderson this weekend...Cowboys left tackle Flozell Adams was fined again this week after he attempted to kick Carolina defensive end Julius Peppers during Monday's game. Adams plans to appeal. How about you act like an adult and then you won't have to worry about being fined all the time...A motion to dismiss a sexual harrassment suit against Ben Roethlisberger has been denied.

Hockey: Don't forget, the regular season begins tonight!...A judge has rejected Jim Balsillie's bid to purchase the Coyotes...The Hurricanes have locked up goalie Cam Ward for another six years at a cost of $37.8 million....Alexei Semenov has signed with the Rangers...The Penguins have claimed Chris Bourque off waivers...The Sharks have selected Rob Blake as their new team captain.

Nascar: Jimmie Johnson thinks seven titles are not likely in his future, but what about a fourth?...1,300 family, friends and employees got an early look at a new documentary about Rick Hendrick.

Best of the Rest: Ferrari has signed Fernando Alonso to a three year deal...Rafael Nadal has been cleared to play...Binghampton's athletic director Joel Thirer has resigned after six basketball players were dismissed last week. Emanuel "Tiki" Mayben was arraigned on cocaine distribution while five others were let go for an unannounced reason. Watch out Tiki and friends, because the popo are on your tail!
