Double Down: 2009 MLB Playoffs

ALCS
Yankees v. Angels
Game 1: Friday, October 16 at 7:57 PM/est on FOX

Over the past few years, it seems the Angels have absolutely owned the Yankees, kind of like the Red Sox had the Angels number. But if the early postseason is any indicator, it maybe time for the Bombers to turn things around kind of like the Halos with the BoSox in the ALDS.

News&Notes: The Yankees are hoping to go with a three man rotation, weather permitting of course…Speaking of rotation, the Angels have decided to go with John Lackey as their game 1 starter. He’ll go up against CC Sabathia…Mark Teixeira and Bobby Abreu are both going up against their old team. Although Teixeira really only spent three months with the Angels before heading to New York. So it’s not quite the same...Congrats to Mariano Rivera on being named the Delivery Man of the Year...The crew chiefs have been picked for the umpiring crews.

NLCS
Dodgers v. Phillies
Game 1: Thursday, October 15 at 8:07 PM/est on TBS

This year’s NLCS is rematch between the Phillies and Dodgers who squared off a year ago. This year, the Dodgers young core of Andre Either, James Loney, Russell Martin and Matt Kemp have a year of experience under their belt and along with Manny Ramirez are looking for revenge. Meanwhile the Phillies still have the tough task of managing a bullpen that hasn’t been the most dependable along the way. With their potent offense, can Philadelphia make-up for any pitching gaffes or will the Dodgers be able to take advantage?

News&Notes: The Dodgers have set their rotation with Clayton Kershaw going up against the Phillies Cole Hamels for game 1…Joe Torre expects to retire after the 2010 season. Just like Bobby Cox!..Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and his wife Jamie have separated.
