So this is what camera phones were made for

Word flew around Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Thursday that a scuffle occurred between Cup drivers Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards while they were both in the Nationwide Series garage area.

Witnesses said Edwards approached Harvick in the Nationwide garage and the two exchanged sharp words, after which Harvick turned to walk away and Edwards grabbed him. Harvick then turned and shoved Edwards onto the hood of the No. 33 car, after which a Harvick crew member placed Edwards in a headlock.

At that point the altercation apparently was broken up. Officials from NASCAR had no comment, stating that the incident is a non-issue.

This latest rumble comes just days after Harvick was caught up in wreck that appears to have been triggered by Edwards at Talladega. Harvick made another one of his humorous comments to the media calling Edwards a “pansy” which apparently was not funny to the Nationwide Series champ who left a note for Happy with his pilot:

"Thanks for (expletive) me on TV -- I was really trying to screw up everyone's day. Love, Carl."

What a sweet sentiment. I bet Hallmark will start making cards like that and file in the get well section.

So far no video or photos have been posted on the web, because if there is one sport that has been able to keep off-track incidents private it’s Nascar. And honestly, I much rather have video proof of the girl fight between Harvick and Edwards than whatever Josh Howard was saying about the National Anthem or more video of Tony Romo singing off key at Metal Skool. Plus these little squabbles are PR gold for the Series which has lately been criticized more for poor on track racing and its seemingly interchangeable characters than for anything else. Moral of the story, get your crew guys some pocket video recorders, and stat!

UPDATE: Bestill my heart, someone was listening to me and apparently started snapping a few shots!
