Friday Night Lights Tonight!

Chase Update:
Joey Logano will no longer be driving the #96 Hall of Fame racing entry this season. He will be replaced by veteran driver Ken Schrader at Talladega this weekend.

Kansas was A.J. Allmendinger's final race in the #84 Red Bull Toyota. Mike Skinner will take over driving duties for the next two races, setting up Scott Speed to take over the ride full time in 2009, starting with the final five races this season.

Kenny Wallace will drive the #00 Champion Mortgage Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing this weekend at Talladega.

Landon Cassill will take the helm of the #81 Randy Moss Motorsports Truck Series entry at Talladega this weekend.

If you are in the southeast, I don't have to mention that there is a major gas shortage happening particularly in Nashville, Charlotte and Atlanta. However, Nascar officials are not concerned with the shortage having any negative affect on this weekend's race at Talladega.

Football Update:
Lane Kiffin was given his walking papers on Monday. To add insult to injury, Al Davis took it upon himself to hold a press conference to make his case on firing Kiffin. You string him along for three weeks, fire him and then bring out letters like you're the prosecution. Leave the acting for your senior care facility.

Jim Haslett's first change as Rams head coach was to make Marc Bulger the starting QB.

Terrell Owens went on KLLI-FM to do some major damage control saying his postgame comments came out of frustration.

The Bengals signed former Bear Cedric Benson. Benson's probably known for his off the field incidents more so his on the field triumphs.

Former Packer Tony Mandarich says he used steriods while at Michigan State and faked a drug test before the 1988 Rose Bowl .

Apparently pot is not just a gateway drug. Ricky Williams says he still fights the urge to use pot.

News&Notes: Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol may sit out some of the Lakers preseason games. That's why they call it preseason!...Stephon Marbury is not ready to negotiate a buyout. Didn't you want to play in Italy? I'm thinking this is probably a good time to do that...Erik Compton will be able to use a golf cart after undergoing a heart transplant...China's gold medal gymnasts have been declared of age after an investigation.
