don't call it a comeback

Basketball: Wizards starting center Brendan Haywood could be out for the remainder of the season after undergoing sugery to repair a torn ligament in his wrist...In other injury news, the Heat will be without James Jones for three months thanks to a ruptured tendon in his right wrist...The Thunder have exercised Kevin Durant's option to keep him with the team through next year.

College Football: BYU is perfect no more after getting pounded by TCU, 32-7...Florida State is 5-1 and taking out North Carolina State, 26-17...Northa Dakota's board has approved a plan to get rid of its Fighting Sioux nickname and Indian logo. Beyond lame!

Football: The Chiefs have suspended RB Larry Johnson for one game...Tony Romo played catch with Jerry Jones. But does that mean he'll play on Sunday?...Troy Polamalu is not loving the rash of NFL fines...If you happen to not be feeling the effects of this tortured economy (and lucky you, may I add), you may fee like shelling out a $1,000 for Super Bowl tickets. Or maybe you'd prefer to put that into a high interest yeilding money market. Probably not if you've got a grand to spend on sports tickets.

Hockey: Marty Brodeur recorded his 97th shut out as the Devils blanked the Thrashers, 1-0...It was not a good night to be a Tampa Bay fan, as the Lightning fell to the Islanders, 4-3 in OT and then there was that other collapse...Speaking of collapses, the Capitals handed the Penguins a 4-3 loss, after being down 3-0. I'd say it was a good night for comebacks, eh?...The Blues had their way with the Stars, 6-1...It's safe to say Chris Chelios is no longer a fan of Def Leppard.

Nascar: Often people think of Talladega as being the big wild card in the Chase, but one can never discount Martinsville where anything can happen on this tiny half mile track. Big ones are not uncommon and parts failures happen all the time. So can points leader Jimmie Johnson leave Martinsville unscathed? And is this the weekend for Jeff Gordon? You'll have to tune into ABC at 1 PM/est to catch TUMS QuikPak 500 to find out...What will this economic depression mean for GM and other sponsors? And how could it effect Nascar?

Best of the Rest: LPGA has lost ADT Security Services as a sponsor...The Red Bulls will be without goalkeeper Jon Conway and central defender Jeff Parke for 10 games after both players were supsended by the MLS for testing positive for Andro. Did you steal that from Mark McGwire's locker 10 years ago?

Check this out: I may be the only one out there (and I know for a fact there at least two of you in my boat) who has been loyalling watching the new 90210. But after hearing that the brillant and underused Jessica Walters is having her contract scaled back, I'm not too sure I will remain loyal. Who am I kidding, there's nothing else on TV on Tuesdays, I'll keep watching this crap! Ausiello has all the scoop here.
