Patrick Kane is Allegedly Not Smart

Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is facing charges of felony robbery and misdemeanor counts of theft of services and criminal mischief after he allegedly beat up a cab driver over 20 cents early Sunday morning.

Kane and his cousin James M. Kane took a cab home after a night out partying in Buffalo’s nightclub district. The pair handed over $15 for a $13.80 ride and asked for change but when the driver only had a dollar, things allegedly turned violent. The driver, Jan Radecki, claims they threw punches, inflicting cuts onto his face and breaking his glasses. He added that the Kanes took back the $15 they had given him.

The cousins were arraigned at Buffalo City Court where Patrick entered a not guilty plea through his lawyer.

The 2007 number one draft pick was back in his hometown to help announce the funding for improvements to his childhood rink Thursday.

Kane had said in the past he enjoyed going back to Buffalo to hang out with his friend who treated him “like I'm a regular kid,” not like “a celebrity or whatever they might treat me like in Chicago.” I believe convicted felon are the words you were looking for, you know depending on how things go Patty.

The Chicago Blackhawks have released a statement saying they are standing behind the 2008 Calder Trophy winner while facts are being gathered.

Watch out Patty and Jamie, because the popo are on your tail!

UPDATE: The mugshot has made its way onto the internet and I have to admit, it's actually not too bad a picture considering the circumstances. Click here to check it out.
