High Flyin'



Baseball: Prince Fielder's mild outburst on Tuesday prompted the Dodgers to add additional security. Please this is nothing a well placed double cheesebuger couldn't fix...Meanwhile out on the field Prince added a ground out RBI to the Brewers 4-1 win over LA...The Mets pounded the Cardinals, 9-0...But the win was not without some heartbreak. Mets starter Jonathan Niese ripped his hamstring completley off the bone and will have to undergo surgery. He's out for the rest of the year...In addition, Gary Sheffield re-injured his hamstring after lobbying to start the game. This is when you just have to go with your gut and keep the elders on the bench...Good thing the Phillies didn't send J.A. Happ to the Indians for Cliff Lee. Happ held the Rockies scoreless as the Phils shut down Colorado, 7-0...Pedro Martinez struck out 11 in his rehab start...A judge upheld murder charges levied against three men who are accused a killing a 22 year old outside of Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia...Jim Thome had two homeruns as the White Sox topped the Angels, 6-2...Going into tonight's big showdown between the Yankees and Red Sox (which I will be attending) the Yanks will come in riding high after rallying for an 8-4 victory over the Blue Jays...While the Boston will be nursing their wounds after being swept by the Rays, 6-4...BoSox left fielder Jason Bay will miss at least two games after re-injuring his hamstring...The Braves supported Tommy Hanson with 14 singles as they outhit the Padres, 6-2...It was a night of firsts for San Francisco. Eli Whiteside hit his first career homerun, a grand slam that pushed the Giants past the Stros, 10-6. Giants starter Joe Martinez got his first career win...Astros reliever LaTroy Hawkins was fined for critizing an umpire...Thank goodness for Spring Training. A new study says the six weeks in February and March provide an extra $752 million for the Florida economy.

Basketball: Kurt Rambis is in Minnesota to talk about the coaching job. But with the way this search is going who knows...It's official, the Blazers have signed a five year extension with Brandon Roy. The contract could be worth as much as $82 million...The Pistons signed Austin Daye to a two year deal...The NBA and the players union are opening up the lines of communication.

Watch out Jaqua because the popo are on your tail!...The Titans will reportedly honor Steve McNair with a No. 9 decal players will wear on the back of their helmets.

Nascar: David Reutimann isn't celebrating Denny Hamlin's win at Pocono this weekend...Get well wishes go out to Reed Sorenson who is suffering after effects from inhaling carbon monoxide during Monday's Sprint Cup race in Pocono. His team has asked Jacques Villeneuve to be ready to fill in for Sorenson at Watkins Glen if he is still ill...Marty Smith goes on a road trip with Kasey Kahne.
