Nooooooooo!! Not Nigel!!

My recent euphoria over the Rangers acquisition of Sean Avery has worn off with the news that the Rangers have sent Dmitri Kalinin, Petr Prucha and Nigel Dawes to Phoenix for defenseman Derek Morris. While I am more than happy to see Kalinin go, I have grown very fond of both Prucha and Dawes and am very sad to see their names a part of this deal. Why couldn't it be Chris Drury? Prucha has proven over the past year that when the Rangers allow him to be in the line-up, he is an absolute spark plug. And Nigel, well, he’s freaking money in the shoot-out whenever they kick Drury out and put him in. Not to mention he’s always good for a great quote and a smile on the bench.

Also on Wednesday, the Rangers picked up center Nik Antropov from the Maple Leafs for a second round and a conditional draft pick.

Frankly I am just too upset for words to finish this post. I mean it’s bad enough they are leaving New York but being sent to a team that is in financial ruins and may not be able to make it to next season is quite another. But I digress.
