Oy vey!

Braves Update:
Scoring five runs in the first inning is usually a hard feat to overcome and the Braves showed why on Wednesday night against the Boston Red Sox. Former Brave, J.D. Drew struck first hitting a leadoff homerun in the first off of Buddy Carlyle and the hits just seemed to continue for the Sox. When all was said and done, the Braves had lost another game to the Sox, 11-0. The Braves have a day off before starting a series with the tough Detroit Tigers. Thank goodness for the slumping Mets, who are having an even worse month of June!

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 1 1/2
Games above .500: 3
NL Wild Card Leader: Arizona Diamondbacks

Braves Notes: The Braves traded lefty relief pitcher Macay McBride to the Detroit Tigers for lefty relief pitcher Wildredo Ledezma...Chipper Jones left the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the Red Sox with an injured groin. No word on whether he will miss any games with this new injury...The Braves gave Andruw Jones the night off on Wednesday by starting Willie Harris in Center. Andruw is batting just .202 this season.

NASCAR Update:
Congratulations to Jeff Gordon and wife Ingrid on the birth of their first child, Ella Sofia Gordon. Ella was born on Wednesday, which will allow her dad to drive at Sonoma this weekend. One day old and already a team player!

ESPN is reporting that the Nextel Cup will be renamed the Sprint Cup starting in 2008.

News & Notes: Sammy Sosa belted number 600 on Wednesday against his old team the Chicago Cubs. Even better, the Rangers beat the Cubbies 7-3...The Cubs dealt catcher Michael Barrett to the San Diego Padres for Rob Bowen and a minor league player. Barrett has been making headlines this month after getting into it with teammates Carlos Zambrano and Rich Hill...And finally, This summer as you head out to the beach, don't worry about the sharks, worry about the sand. A new study found that from 1990-2006, more people were swallowed by sand (16) than by sharks (12) in the US. Like I need more things to have nightmares about!

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate

Hey miss!
I'll be back in town mid-July. We should plan a bakery-gals reunion.

How's the metro-area treating you?
