Bring out the Broom

Braves Update:
The Braves were able to sweep the Washington Nationals, their first since they swept the Phillies in April, after an offensive onslaught not seen by the Braves since they beat Boston 14-0 in May. A dominate John Smoltz pitched five scoreless innings, while the Braves offense racked up 22 hits and 13 runs in the win. The Bravos have a day off before starting a series against the Marlins on Friday.

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 3 1/2
Games above .500: 3
NL Wild Card Leader: San Diego Padres/Arizona Diamondbacks

Braves Notes: Kyle Davies will miss his start on Friday, allowing him an extra few days rest after mildly straining his left oblique on Saturday. Chuck James will instead start in Friday's game against the Marlins.

What Not to Wear: So a few weeks ago I did a post on athletes inabilty to dress properly. Apparently Tatiana Golovin missed that one. Golovin decided to spice up her all white outfit by wearing a pair of red knickers at Wimbeldon on Thursday which is a major no-no. Wimbeldon has a strick all white dress code, but luckily for her, the referee allowed her to wear the shocking underwear because they were not below her hemline. Thank goodness, because for a minute there I thought they were supposed to be concentrating on tennis and not fashion.

News & Notes: Ryan Howard became the fastest player to ever reach 100 career homeruns in Major League Baseball history on Wednesday after blasting a ball an estimated 505 feet into Ashburn Alley at Citizens Bank Park in just his 325th game. His homerun was not enough, as the Phillies fell to the Cincinnati Reds 9-6...Former Brave, Tom Glavine picked up his 297th win in a rain shortened game on Wednesday. The Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2-0 in six innings...The Braves weren't the only team bringing out the brooms, the Chicago Cubs, swept the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday, the Seattle Mariners beat the Boston Red Sox in three as well as the Milwaukee Brewers who won their third game off of a walk off homerun by Damian Miller in the 11th inning on La Crosse Day to beat the Houston Astros...Finally, in probably the most anticipated reunion news since the Police said they were getting back together, the Spice Girls have announced that they are reuniting for a world tour. The band who split in 1998 are best known for bringing the world "girl power." I can't even explain how excited I am!

Bid on this: You can own a car driven by troubled Tennessee Titan Adam "Pacman" Jones. The Chrysler Crossfire comes complete with custom seats that have the Pacman logo stitched onto the head rest. Move quickly, you've only got 8 more days to bid.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
