It's out of here

Braves Update:
Apparently the Braves were just saving themselves last week when they managed to score only one run in five games, because in just the past two games the Braves have scored 10 runs, including six on Tuesday in their 6-2 win over the Washington Nationals. Salty hit two homeruns in his first career multihomerun game, while Andruw Jones was able to break out of his slump to hit a three run homer in the fifth inning. They even managed to throw in a little defense when Matt Diaz nailed Felipe Lopez at the plate and an alert Brian McCann immediately threw to third to get Ryan Zimmerman in a rare 7-2-6 double play. The Braves finish off their series with the Nationals tonight at 7:35 PM/est on FSN.

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 3 1/2
Games above .500: 2
NL Wild Card Leader: San Diego Padres/Arizona Diamondbacks

Braves Notes: The Braves are looking to start platooning at second base. Regular second baseman, Kelly Johnson will be sharing time with Yunel Escobar, who has been on a hitting rampage since moving up to the majors on June 2nd.

NASCAR Update:
Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon were both docked 100 driver points, while Rick Hendrick lost 100 owner points after failing inspection last Friday. Both drivers will also be without their crew chiefs, Chad Knaus and Steve Latarte until mid August.

Popo in my Crib News:
The 24 year old man who rushed the mound during the Chicago Cubs game against the Colorado Rockies on Monday has been charged with illegal conduct within a sports facility. Brent Kowalkoski of Elmwood Park ran at Cubs pitcher Bob Howry after Howry gave up a three run homerun in the ninth inning. Watch out Brent, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: Tony Blair has stepped down as Great Britian's Prime Minister after 10 years in office. Blair will be replaced by Gordon Brown...Brendan Ryan had a break out game against the New York Mets on Tuesday. The rookie hit his first career homerun in the 11th inning to propel his St. Louis Cardinals past the New York Mets 5-2. This was the second straight 11 inning game for the Mets and Cards...In other late inning heroics news, Jeff Cirillo hit a walk off sinngle for the Minnesota Twins in the 12th inning in the Twins 2-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday...Finally, Kaitlyn Lasitter is in stable condition at a Nashville area hospital after losing both of her feet in an amusement park accident in Kentucky. The 13 year old girl was riding the Superman Tower of Pride ride at Six Flags Kentucky when the incident occured. Note to self, avoid all roller coasters while at Six Flags this summer.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
