Keep smiling

Braves Update:
The Braves continue to stumble dropping three of four to the Florida Marlins after yesterday afternoon's 7-4 loss. Kyle Davies allowed five runs in six innings pitched. But it's not just the pitching that's to blame for the Braves' struggles, it's the offense, often times putting up big numbers in the later innings that prove to be too little too late. The Braves put up two runs in the eighth inning, but that number could have been far greater if not for an inning ending ground ball by Jeff Francouer which stranded three. The Braves hope to rekindle some of their early season magic against the Chicago Cubs tonight. The game starts at 7:35 PM/est on SS.

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 3 1/2
Games above .500: 6
NL Wild Card Leader: San Diego Padres/Arizona Diamondbacks

Braves Notes: Even though Chipper Jones is eligible to come off the disabled list on Friday, don't expect to see him in the lineup. Jones is still ailling in both of his wrists.

NASCAR Update:
Carl Edwards won the Prelude to a Dream at Eldora Speedway on Wednesday. The dirt track race featured stars like Jeff Gordon, track owner, Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick. Proceeds from the race, which was televised live on pay-per-view, will benefit the Tony Stewart Foundation and the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

News & Notes: Annika Sorenstam is not too pleased with 17 year old golfer, Michelle Wie. Wie exited the Ginn Tribute last week two holes shy of the first round with a "wrist injury." Wie was two bogeys away from an 88, which under LPGA rules would have prevented her from playing in any other LPGA sponsored events for one year. Wie was healthy enough to hit balls two days later and play in a Pro-AM event the following Monday. (Where she was reportedly not too friendly with the group of players that paid to play with her.)...Congratulations to Trevor Hoffman for picking up his 500th career save on Wednesday in the San Diego Padres 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers...Bud Selig has asked Jason Giambi to cooperate in the George Mitchell investigation into steriods in baseball. Giambi has been granted anonymity twice and yet in both cases the results have been leaked to the media...Finally, they may not be Mighty anymore, but the Anahiem Ducks sure are champions, after beating the Ottawa Senators 6-2 in game five taking the series 4 games to one.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
