Braves Update:
It was the battle of the struggling teams as the Atlanta Braves took on the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee yesterday. The Braves were desperate to get out of Atlanta after a weekend sweep by the Phillies, while the Brewers had lost five games in a row coming into the series. But a homerun by Andruw Jones in the fourth and an insurance run in the fifth was all the Braves needed to pick up the 2-1 win. The Brewers and Braves combined to leave 14 men on base during the game. The series continues tonight when John Smoltz takes on the Brewers' ace Ben Sheets at 8:05 PM/est on FSN.
Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 4
Games above .500: 7
NL Wild Card Leader: San Diego Padres/Los Angeles Dodgers
Braves Notes: Andruw Jones' fourth inning homer was his 350th career long ball...Chipper Jones is expected to miss the next two games against the Brewers and maybe heading to the DL with his injured thumbs...Congratulations to Salty on his first career homerun on Sunday against the Phillies' Cole Hammels
NASCAR Update:
I guess you could call the Coca-Cola 600 the tale of three races. The first was dominated by Penske Racing South's Kurt Busch and pole sitter Ryan Newman, but when the race was finished neither were on the track, as Newman exited early with engine troubles and Busch had an unpleasant meeting with the infield wall. The second act was lead by Toyota's Brian Vickers. Coming into the race, Toyota had only lead 15 laps, but Vickers easily surpassed that total, leading 76 laps. But, like his power steering, Vickers faded as the third race progressed, leaving a familiar team but an unfamiliar face in victory lane...Casey Mears. Mears who spent most of the night in the top ten, was able to save enough fuel to make it to the finish (not enough for burn outs, next time) and win his first ever Nextel Cup race. Congratulations Casey!

Random Quote: "I can't believe it...Wait a minute. Let me look around to make sure what it looks like." - Casey Mears in victory lane
Shout outs to: Brian Vickers for his stellar preformance, when that kid actually makes the races he puts on one heck of show and Kyle Petty for picking up third place.
Indy 500 Update:
Dario Franchitti did not let a little rain ruin his day, as he picked up his first ever Indy 500 win and a $1.6 million check. It was a soggy day in Indianapolis, rain fell before, during (which resulted in a three hour delay between laps 103 and 104) and after the checkers fell on lap 166. It was one of the most competitive races in recent history, without the usual suspects, Penske Racing and Ganassi Racing in contention for most of the day. Instead, Andretti Green Racing dominated. If the race had ended on lap 103, AGR would have had the top three spots (Tony Kanaan, Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick), instead, it was another AGR teammate that came away with the win, Franchitti. Ganassi's Scott Dixon came in second followed by Penske teammates Helio Castroneves and Sam Hornish, Jr. and Symantec Luczo Dragon Racing's Ryan Briscoe in fifth. The much talked about female drivers were lead by Danica Patrick who finished 8th, Sarah Fisher in 18th and Milka Duno in 31st, who exited early after a crash.
