The Day After

Braves Update:
So a few weeks ago I was reading an article on maybe espn.com saying that "the Braves were good, but that they weren't as good as you thought. And anyways, Tim Hudson will show his true colors. He's not as good as April made him out to be." After last night's game, I'm sure that "reporter" was eating his words. Going into the fifth inning, Hudson was flirting with a no-hitter. While he didn't get it, he did pitch seven amazing innings allowing one run off of three hits. Thanks to two Edgar Renteria homers (1st and 7th inning) the Braves were able to snap their two game losing streak with a 6-2 win over the Washington Nationals. Oh yeah and the Braves are that good! The Bravos take on the Nationals tonight at 7:05 PM/est on FSN.

Games ahead of NY Mets in NL East: 1/2
Games above .500: 11
NL Wild Card Leader: NY Mets

Braves Notes: Yesterday was John Smoltz's 40th birthday. MLB.com conducted a Q&A to reflect on his past 40 years...On Monday, Smoltzie dislocated his pinky finger. X-Rays were negative, and he may pitch Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

NASCAR Update:
They expected a penalty, but Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Tony Eury, Jr. weren't expecting it to be so severe. Earnhardt, Jr. was penalized 100 driver points, Teresa Earnhardt was penalized 100 owner points and Eury, Jr. was suspended six points races and fined $100,000 for an unapproved bolt on the rear wing of the #8 Budweiser Chevy found during pre-race inspection. DEI is expected to appeal, saying the punishment was too harsh. So if Dale, Jr. doesn't make the Chase becuase of the points penalty will they expand the Chase to 15 cars?

Amazing Headline: "Gordon's wife will skip races to have kid" Gee, I hope so, because I don't think it would be too sanitary to have a kid in the motorcoach. (foxsports.com)

Last night was the Academy of Country Music Awards. Once again, Carrie Underwood was the big winner picking up three awards for Top Female Vocalist, Ablum of the Year for "Some Hearts" and Video of the Year for "Before He Cheats." Kenny Chesney walked away with Entertainer of the Year, while George Strait won Single and Song of the Year for "Give it Away." I also have to give shout outs to Miranda Lambert for winning Top New Female Vocalist of the Year. On Friday I'll be seeing two winners Rodney Atkings, Top New Male Vocalist of the Year and Little Big Town, Top New Duo or Vocal Group when they open for Martina McBride. Congratulations to all the winners.

Gilmore Girls

Last night was the final episode of my beloved "Gilmore Girls." I had to run upstairs after it ended so I wouldn't start crying in front of my mom. (I always make fun of her because she cries at anything, TV commercials, etc..) I thought it was a brillant end to a fantastic show. Even though show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino didn't write it, it felt like she did. It featured almost every important townsperson you could think of, Taylor, Babette, Miss Patty, Sookie, Jackson, Lulu and my favorite Kirk. It even had an "unofficial" town meeting. But the moment that really made me tear up was the final scene, a tribute to the pilot which had Lorelai and Rory sitting at a table in Luke's diner the morning of Rory's big move into the real world (well, actually Barack Obama's campaign bus). It was a perfect way to end GG, focused on its heart and soul, Lorelai and Rory...the Gilmore girls.

Just to prove I'm not the only one in mourning, check out this article.
Sean Gunn's (Kirk) Top 10 Gilmore Girls Episodes.
If you missed last night's episode here's a recap.
It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
