The big news of the day centers around a thursday press conference. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is expected to announce his departure from DEI after the end of the 2007 season. Junior has raced his entire Cup career at DEI, the company started by his father, Dale Earnhardt. Junior had set a May deadline to get a contract in place, but apparently, an agreement could not be reached. Junior is supposedly chosing between Chevy teams, Richard Childress Racing, the company his father raced for, and Hendrick Motorsports, agruably the most dominate team in NASCAR today. An announcement of where he is going is not expected to be made today.
