Braves Update:
For the third time this season, John Smoltz faced his old buddy, Tom Glavine and for the third time, the Braves won, but more importantly, it was Smoltzie's 200th career win. He becomes the first pitcher to ever get 200 career wins and 150 career saves. Glavine came up strong in six innings, allowing only five hits and two walks but it was Matt Diaz's solo homerun in the second inning that became the difference maker, in the Braves 2-1 win over the New York Mets. The Braves enter their series against the Philadelphia Phillies hoping to capitalize on their momentum, which will be important with the 2006 NL MVP, Ryan Howard returning to the Phils' bench tonight. Tim Hudson will go up against one of the few people in baseball that make John Smoltz look like a kid, Jamie Moyer. Coverage starts at 7:35 on SS.

Random Quote: "This one, the script couldn't have been written any better." - Chipper Jones on John Smoltz's 200th win (atlantabraves.com)

Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 1 1/2
Games above .500: 9
NL Wild Card Leader: Atlanta Braves

Braves Notes: Chipper Jones will miss at least Friday night's game against the Phillies after receiving a cortisone shot in his right hand on Wednesday night. Jones injured his hand in a brutal collision with Jose Bautista on May 11th...Lance Cormier may be off the DL soon if he completes his final rehab start with the Richmond Braves on Monday without discomfort.

IRL
Don't forget to check out the 91st running of the Indy 500. This years race marks the first time three females will be in the starting grid. Can Sarah Fisher, Danica Patrick or Milka Duno become the first women ever to win? Will American Sam Hornish, Jr. repeat or will it be one of the Ganassi Boys? (Let's go Danny Wheldon and Scott Dixon!) Does Andretti Green still have the magic? All of these questions will be answered when one person gets a chance to drink the milk in victory lane. Coverage starts live on Sunday at Noon/est on ABC.

Celebrity Tid Bits:
The Third installment of the Pirates series is set to debut at a theater near you this weekend. But if that's not your thing, you can check out Ashley Judd's latest, Bug.

According to People, it's love for Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. I am so jealous.

Have a happy, safe and motorsports filled Memorial Day Weekend!

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
