Trading Spaces


Baseball: With only 24 hours until the trade deadline, teams were dealing like crazy on Wednesday. The biggest move was the Phillies acquiring Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco for Carlos Carrasco, Jason Knapp, Lou Marson and Jason Donald...The Pirates have almost completed trading off all viable players after sending Freddy Sanchez to the Giants and Jack Wilson and Ian Snell to the Mariners...Seattle also sent Robert manuel to the Reds for Wladimir Balentien...And what about Roy Halladay, is he ever leaving the Blue Jays?...Speaking of Toronto, they fell to the Mariners, 3-2...Joba Chamberlain continues to roll, holding the Rays scoreless over eight innings on the way to the Yankees, 6-2 victory...Apparently Matt Garza meant to bean Mark Teixeira. Thanks for the update and enjoy your mini-vacation...The A's outslugged the Red Sox, 8-6...Justin Verlander struck out 13 as the Tigers slammed the Rangers, 13-5...In his major league debut, Chris Tillman allowed three homeruns but somehow the O's walked away with a 7-3 win over the Royals...Matt Cain held the Pirates scoreless for nine innngs, but it wasn't until the 10 that San Francisco was able to battle past the Pirates, 1-0...Albert Pujols hit a liner to center in the 15th that drove in the Cardinals winning run to take down the Dodgers, 3-2...Good news, Vin Scully is coming back in 2010...The Cubs rocked the Astros, 12-0.

Basketball: The Warriors have reportedly traded Marco Belinelli to the Raptors.

Football: Plax is sorry for being a moron and probably for wearing sweatpants to da club...Antonio Pierce will testify in front of a grand jury in the Plaxico Burress case on Thursday...The Steelers resigned Heath Miller to a six year deal...The Redskins aren't interested in Michael Vick right now...Anquan Boldin showed up to Cardinals camp...Brian Urlacher is not calling Jay Culter names. I am glad we've all graduated the third grade...Sad news, long time Eagles assistant Jim Johnson has died. He was 68.

Hockey: The NHL has approved a bid by Jerry Reinsdorf to purchase the Coyotes...Phoenix also inked Scottie Upshall and Josh Tordjman...Tony Amonte, Tom Barrasso, John LeClair and the 1998 US Women's Hockey Team will be inducted into the USA Hockey Hall of Fame. Congrats!

Nascar: Diageo, parent company to Crown Royal, announced they have re-signed with Roush but instead of sponsoring Jamie McMurray, they'll be on the hood of Matt Kenseth's car making McMurray's exit from Roush that much more obvious.

Best of the Rest: Phil Mickelson will play in the PGA tournaments...John Daly is going to have his own reality show. I hope they include a segment which shows where he gets his amazing pants...Michael Schumacher will fill in for injured driver Felipe Massa at Ferrari...LP Everton downed the MLS All-Stars 4-3 in penalty kicks.
