Holliday in St. Louis

Matt Holliday has reportedly been traded to St. Louis for third baseman Brett Wallace, outfielder Shane Peterson and right-handed pitcher Clayton Mortensen. The A’s will also throw in $1.5 million to help subsidize Holliday’s huge contract. (He's still owed $6 million for the rest of the season.)

It seems like just yesterday Matty was traded to the A’s. Oh, maybe because it almost was. Oakland acquired Holliday from the Rockies in the offseason hoping he’d become the center piece of their offense. Unfortunately, like most the A’s, Holliday has struggled, although he has posted better numbers over the last few weeks.

The Cardinals are hoping Holliday will add additional protection in the lineup for Albert Pujols. So does this give the Cards the NL West?
