Shockey Down

For the love of humanity, we have one Memorial Day weekend casualty and it was none other than Jeremy Shockey. The Saints TE was taken to the hospital for “dehydration” after making rather merry around the pool at the "Rehab" party at the Hard Rock Cafe Casino in Las Vegas.

First of all, why was I not invited? I am sure I could have taken time out of my busy schedule of going to Yankee Stadium and watching Brad Lidge suck AGAIN and then enjoy bbq at Virgils (ok well that part is negotiable) to rock my one piece around the pool, making fun of all the half dressed ladies and then calling 911 when Shockey goes down for the count.

And second of all, the guy plays in New Orleans, went to the U, shouldn’t he know his tolerance level by now? And if not, shouldn’t he know to alternate between beer and water when it’s really hot? Apparently not!

Well, get well Shockey, it would be nice if you stepped up your game for the 09-10 season. I want the Giants to start to regret trading you to New Orleans at some point so people won’t make fun of my ESPN the Magazine cover hanging on my wall.

UPDATE: As I was flipping channels late last night what should I come upon? “Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel” which just so happens to take place at the same joint Shockey went down on Sunday. I pray that there is video and that it makes it onto Season 2 (or 3 or whatever the next season is.)

UPDATE 2: Oh in somewhat related news, Shockey is staying with agent Drew Rosenhaus. The same cannot be said for Anquan Boldin. I guess this news isn't totally a surprise.

UPDATE 3: More good news, via his agent Drew Rosenhaus, Shockey will be healthy enough to attend mandatory minicamp for veteran players beginning on Monday. A little IV fluids and it seems he’s good to go!
