August 9, 2006

It’s national underwear day, hopefully you remembered to wear a pair to celebrate!

Unfortunately, today is not national stop gum chewing day…because it’s really annoying to others around you, is unprofessional, and is unattractive. Seriously, what’s hot about sounding like a cow gnawing on grass? Something to think about the next time you go to grab a stick of gum. Even the cancer stick is hotter. At least you don’t make noise when you smoke. Although, the smell isn’t good, it is easily masked by febreeze.

Braves Update:
The Braves evened up the series against the Phillies last night. Tim Hudson pitched a flawless game, not allowing a Phillie to reach third base in seven scoreless innings. He even helped the cause by putting down a sacrifice bunt in the fifth allowing Matt Diaz to score. The Braves padded their lead in the seventh with two runs off of Scott Thorman and Brian McCann doubles. The Braves look to win the series this afternoon at 1PM on TBS. (Another gameday afternoon for me.)

Games to .500: 8
Games behind Cincinnati Reds: 5.5
Games behind New York Mets: 15.5

The Braves first baseman, Adam LaRoche was a late scratch complaining of soreness in his arm, which was hit by a Bronson Arroyo pitch on Saturday. Apparently, Adam was mesmerized by Bronson’s amazing hair, well I doubt that, but Adam should be a go this afternoon…It looks like starting pitcher Horacio Ramirez will be out for the rest of the season. A MRI yesterday revealed a partially torn tendon pulley in his finger. I guess we sent down Sheill a little too soon.

In a si.com poll of 415 major league baseball players, Brian McCann was voted one of the slowest runners in baseball. Congratulations, keep up the good …work? (Carl Crawford of the Devil Rays was voted the fastest.)

Random Quote: “They threw a pitch that they probably thought I couldn't bunt. I'm not the best bunter in the world, that's Captain Obvious right there, but I was able to get it down, and it turned out to be a big run for us."Tim Hudson

NASCAR Update:
Reminder: Dale Jr. will be on Payback tonight at 10PM on Speed.

In a surprise move, Bill Elliot will be starting in place of Jeremy Mayfield in the Evernham #19 Dodge Dealers Dodge at Watkins Glen this weekend. This adds flames to the rumor that Mayfield will be leaving EMS after this season. Also adding to the flames is this: “Mayfield’s long-term future with Evernham is undecided - but his name had been removed from the company letterhead." (MSNBC sports) Yeah, that's not good

Scott Pruett will be starting in place of rookie David Stremme in the Ganassi #40 Coors Light Dodge at Watkins Glen. This brings up the question, why is Stremme still there?

Giants Update:
I’m pretty sure there’s a lot going on at Giants mini-camp with finding back up quarterbacks, getting a fill-in (possibly someone from the JV high school team) that can be a back-up for Tiki Barber, since those reserves are out because for one walking is too hard, and the other has heart problems, but the highlight so far, well for me, is that Jeremy Shockey got a new tattoo. Not as amazing as his first, I mean really, it’s a flag and a bald eagle, so it really doesn’t get anymore amazing, unless he had Richard Nixon tattooed across his back…wishful thinking. (Cannot complete daydreaming of Richard Nixon tattoo on Shockey…)

Popo in my crib news:
In other football news, Maurice Clarett was arrested yesterday after evading police. They sprayed Clarett with mace because the stun gun they fired at him hit his bullet-proof vest and proved ineffective. I always roll wit one of those, you never know, The Wood can be dangerous. He will be charged with carrying a concealed weapon. You may remember he is awaiting trial on two counts of aggravated robbery, four counts of robbery and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. (usatoday.com) Maurice, Maurice, Maurice, if you are so fond of carrying concealed weapons move to Texas or Florida where it’s legal, because I don’t think you’ll be able to join the police force with your wrap sheet. So Maurice watch out, because the popo are on your tail!

Celebrity Tid Bits:
It was a bad day for MTV reality stars. Both “Laguna Beach” narrators, Lauren “LC” Conrad and Kristin Cavalleri broke up with their boyfriends. I think someone is upset that she didn’t go to Paris in the finale of “The Hills!”…Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler of “Meet the Barkers” fame are calling it quits after almost two years of marriage. The pair has two children together, Landon (2) and Alabama (7 months). Moakler also has a child Atiana, with Oscar De La Hoya.

I updated Monday's blog with separated at birth, so check it out! Still waiting for my computer to want to upload pictures from the beach!

It’s been fun blogging with you,

Kate
