August 11, 2006

Last night it rained, and then it rained some more. Gross! I watched a repeat of Dale Jr. on Payback and just veggied.

New Movies this week:
World Trade Center (71% fresh rating on rottentomatoes.com)
Step Up (19% fresh rating on rottentomatoes.com-a movie to describe a generation, I think not!)
Pulse (not viewed for critics-never a good sign)
Zoom (also not viewed for critics)
Half Nelson (95% fresh rating on rottentomatoes.com-got a good review in the Metro)

Braves Update:
The Bravos had the day off yesterday. While some lounged, slept in, went hunting (I really don’t know what baseball players do on their days off) Jeff Francouer, John Smoltz, John Thomson, Brian Jordan, and some Braves legends like Dale Murphy played golf at the Braves Foundation Golf Classic. The Golf Classic raised $150,000 for the Braves Foundation and will be distributed to various charities through grants.

Tim Hudson has lost his confidence…sort of? I love that atlantabraves.com like to sugar coat things, it doesn’t make me cry in the corner as much. Haha. But we’ve been through this before, remember Mark Wohlers? I am confident that Huddy will be back to form soon. His outing against the Phillies was amazing and hopefully he can build off of that.

The Braves take on the Brewers at the Ted tonight at 7:35PM on FSN.

Games to .500: 9
Games behind Cincinnati Reds: 6
Games behind New York Mets: 17

NASCAR Update:
Big news out of Evernham Motorsports...Jeremy Mayfield has been terminated! I have a feeling this is going to get super ugly. Mayfield said he could not comment for legal reasons...hmmm.

Richard Childress believes that if he can get two cars in the Chase, one of them will win the championship. See I’m not the only one that believes Jeff Burton will win the Championship.

Random Quote: “Chad is one of the best at finding that edge but, sometimes, it’s just been more of an edge than NASCAR is willing to allow.” – Car owner, Rick Hendrick on Chad Knaus via foxsports.com

Giants Update:
The Giants will be flying to Baltimore tonight. Their first preseason game of the year against the Ravens is tomorrow and will be at 8PM on NBC.

Eli’s big brother Peyton and the Colts took on the St. Louis Rams last night. Peyton played like a minute and a half leading his team to their first touchdown of the game. But the Colts fell to the Rams 17-19. In 30 days the Manning brothers will face off in their first regular season game of the year, which will also be the first time the brothers play professional against each other. Peyton referred to Manning Bowl during a sideline interview with Chris Meyers during last night's game saying that New York will be a hostel crowd, and that he is trying to prepare for that. Hostel is not the word; remember we threw snowballs at opposing players, so beer cans will probably have to do for the game in September.

Around the sports world:
Apparently, 19 is the new 14. Since R. Kelly, people have decided th it's not a good idea to actually rob the cradle and now wait until they have at least graduated high school before dating them. Christie Brinkley's soon to be ex, Peter Cook, cheated on his supermodel wife with 19 year old, Diana Bianchi. Now comes word that Mets all star catcher, Paul Lo Duca has been swimming in the barely legal pool. Only weeks after his wife, Sonia filed for divorce, news has gotten out that Paulie has been dating 19 year old Krista Guterman who he met at 18 and older night at a Long Island night club. What is up with the Long Island Lolitas, first Amy Fisher and now these two? I gues I'll never be able to snag an old rich guy, I'm too old and I'm not from Long Island!

David Beckham has been drop kicked off of the English National soccer (football) team. He will continue to play for Real Madrid. I'm sure he'll just be crying to his plastic aliean wife aka Posh Spice.

Celebrity Tid Bits:
Jack Black will host the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. After a two year absence, the VMAs will be back in New York at Radio City Music Hall. The VMAs air live on August 31st.

Former Wild on! star and current host of Rock Star: Supernova, Brooke Burke is reportedly pregnant with her beau, David Charvet (Matt from Baywatch)’s child. Brooke has two children from a pervious relationship. May I say, David Charvet in 2006 is downgrade from ex-husband, plastic surgeon to the stars, Dr. Garth Fisher. Now who’s going to do the lipo/tummy tuck after you have your kid?

The American Idol auditions keep rolling on. Today, hopefuls can try out in San Antonio, TX. I wonder if Eva Longoria from Desperate Housewives will be there?

I’m off to Serendipity’s with Niki for lunch. I’ll post pictures up on Monday or Tuesday.

It’s been fun blogging with you,

Kate
