Braves Update:
The Braves had the day off yesterday, but that will not be enough for relief pitched Danys Baez. Baez had emergency appendectomy surgery after Wednesday's game and was placed on the 15 day DL.

The Braves take on the Washington Nationals at the Ted tonight at 7:35 on TBS.

Games to .500: 8
Games behind Cincinnati Reds: 7
Games behind New York Mets: 19

Reminder: Sunday, Turner Field is hosting Bark in the Park, where you can bring your dog to the TED.

NASCAR Update:
Richard "Slugger" Labbe, who was released from Robert Yates Racing earlier this year, has landed at MB2 motorsports.

It's Bristol night race time!
3 Reasons why I love Bristol:

1) Beating
2) Banging
3) Wrecking

Sharpie 500 is on Saturday Night at 7PM on TNT

Giants Update:
Giants take on their arch rival, the Jets (aka Gang Green the disease nobody wants!) at Giants Stadium. The game is at 8PM on CBS.

Around Sports:
Albert Belle received jail time for stalking his former girlfriend. How the mighty have fallen.

Random Quote: In si.com's pop culture grid, participants were asked, "Lindsay Lohan is...", Jermaine Wiggins of the Minnesota Vikings responded, "A weirdo. An absolute weirdo." Steve McNair of the Baltimore Ravens responded, "Who?"

Around the World:
We at popo in my crib have been following the status of former President, Gerald Ford. Yesterday Ford, had an angioplasty at the Mayo Clinic. Get Well Mr. President.

Celebrity Tid Bits:
Congratulations go out to the Deen family. Son, Jamie Deen and his wife Brooke welcomed a new addition to the Food Network's first southern family. Jack Linton Deen was born in Savannah, GA. Deen's grandmother is Paula Deen.

This Sunday, TV's finest, minus say Kevin James from King of Queens, will be honored at the Emmys. Crossing fingers for Grey's Anatomy and The Office cast!

Happy Birthday to two of my favorite Rachels, The O.C.'s Rachel Bilson (Summer) and 30 Minute Meals, Rachel Ray.

It's been fun blogging with you,

Kate
