Tuesday, Tuesday…lalalala…such a slow news day…lalalala

Braves Update:
The Braves lost another game at home yesterday, this time to the Philadelphia Phillies. They have won just 10 out of their last 33 games at Turner Field. They also lost starting pitcher, Horacio Ramirez with a soft tissue injury to his middle finger in the fifth inning. That inning turned out to be the game winner for the Phillies, who scored 5 runs. It wasn’t all bad, Andruw Jones hit an impressive broken bat two-run homer in the 9th inning. Marcus Giles also hit a homerun, his 9th of the season. But it was not enough, and the Braves lost 9-6. Chipper Jones took batting practice yesterday from the left side and said he was feeling better. Chipper will be eligible to come off the disabled list during Sunday’s game. The Braves continue their series with the Phillies tonight at 7:35 on TS.

Games to .500: 9
Games behind Cincinnati Reds: 5.5
Games behind New York Mets: 15.5

Don’t forget to vote for Edgar Renteria as comeback player of the year!
Don’t forget to vote for Andruw Jones for the Hank Aaron award for offense!

NASCAR Update:
Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards still don’t get along…

Dave Blaney will most likely be back at BDR next year in the #22 Cat Toyota.

Giants Update:
The injury prone Giants suffered another loss when reserve running back, Chris Ward fractured his foot walking out of a meeting. Stories like these provide their own punch line.

Random Quote: “I wish I could say I got in a bar fight. But I was working out and the cable cord broke and I punched myself in the face.” – Jeremy Shockey on showing up to Giant’s mini-camp with a black eye on Best Damn Sports Show Period via foxsports.com

Celebrity Tid Bits:
Congratulations go out to Fred Savage (Wonder Years) and his wife Jennifer Lynn Stone who welcomed a baby boy on Saturday. They have not decided on a name for their son yet. How about Kevin Arnold Savage?

American Idol try outs began today in Pasadena, CA. Contestants are asked to pick up wristbands up to two days in advance and are warned that not everyone with wristbands will get a chance to audition. If producers feel time is running out, they will go around and personally pick out contestants to audition. Auditions continue later this week in San Antonio, TX, later going to my home state next week in East Rutherford, NJ. (See we totally need to keep Continetal Airlines Arena!) Also new this year, there will be a song writing contest. The winner of this portion will have his/her song sung by one of the final two American Idol contestants. Good luck for all who are trying out.

Birthday shout outs go out to two of my favorite boy banders, JC Chasez from ‘N Sync and Drew Lachey from 98 Degrees. They both turned 30.

It's been fun blogging with you,

Kate
