Basketball: The poor economy has hit the NBA, as the league announced they will be laying off 80 employees...The Warriors have suspended Monta Ellis for 30 games ($3 million fine) after he failed to tell the team about the severity of an ankle injury suffered in a moped accident...Former Sonic star Gary Payton believes the NBA will return to Seattle by 2011...Meanwhile, David Stern is saying the NBA could host a regular season game in London, this following a large crowd that saw the Nets beat the Heat, 94-92.

College Football: After taking down Oklahoma, 45-35 on Saturday, Texas vaults to the #1 position in the AP poll.

Football: Crazy weekend filled with last second drives and upsets. Sean Morey blocked Cowboy Mat McBriar's punt, which was scooped up by Monty Beisel and returned for a touchdown in the Cardinals 30-24 OT win...Jason Elam nailed a field goal with no time left to give the Falcons 22- 20 stunner over the Bears...The Rams are no longer winless after pulling out a 19-17 victory over the Skins...The Texans also picked up their first win of the season edging the Dolphins, 29-28...Click here for the rest of this past weekend's scores.



Hockey: Columbus Blue Jackets center Michael Peca has been suspended indefinitely after making contact with an on-ice official...The rookies carried the Coyotes past the Ducks, 4-2...Dustin Penner scored twice including the game winner with 5.4 seconds remaining as the Oilers skated past the Avalanche, 3-2...The Rangers remain undefeated after holding off the Flyers for a 4-3 win. They'll take on the Devils, who are coming off of a 2-1 OT victory over the Penguins, tonight at MSG...For all of our Canadian readers out there, a new song has been chosen for "Hockey Night in Canada." It's name, "Canadian Gold," was written by an elementary school teacher from Alberta.
