Keeping it short, here's a round-up of what's going on in sports:
College Football: It's not a good time to be in the top 25, after a wild week of upsets, #10 South Florida got upended by Pittsburgh, 26-21...#15 Utah was able to hold off Oregon State with a last second field goal in their 31-28 win.
Football: The Bears suspended Tommie Harris for a team rules voilation...Giants Plaxico Burress will be seated on the sidelines as well after failing to show up for work and not calling in his absence...Vikings E.J. Henderson (toes), Redskins Shawn Springs (calf muscle) and Jason Taylor (ankle) will miss their Sunday games, while the Eagles Brian Westbrook (ankle) is listed as day-to-day.
Nascar: Anything can happen at Talladega including a nasty 20 car pile-up, making no points lead safe. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is hoping to turn things around at a track he once owned, while teammate Jeff Gordon is just trying to break through. Will Jimmie Johnson retain the points lead when all the dust is settled and can Jeff Gordon finally break his winless streak? You'll have to tune into ABC at 1 PM/est to catch the Amp Engery 500.
NBA Practice Injuries: The Suns Amare Stoudemire suffered a partially torn iris during practice and will be forced to wear goggles upon his return...Meanwhile the Knicks Jared Jeffries will be out for the next six to eight weeks after fracturing his left fibula at practice.
NHL: According to his agent, Nikolai Khabibulin has multiple options including going to the KHL. Khabibulin was waived by the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this week...Speaking of Europe, the 2008-09 season kicks off in Prague at 12 PM/est when the Rangers take on the Lightning followed by the Penguins v. Senators at 2:30 PM/est coming to you from Stockholm.
WNBA: Candace Parker is expected to be named the League's MVP and Rookie of the Year.
