The Baracklyn Cyclones?

With the inauguration only a few days away, the Brooklyn Cyclones (the Mets Single-A affiliate) have decided to honor the President-elect with his own night. On June 23rd, the team will turn the ballpark into a patriotic delight which will include special red, white and blue jerseys to be worn by the players and auctioned off during the game with proceeds going to the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Also the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a free Barack Obama bobblehead doll, while the first 1,000 fans will get a Band-Aid or universal healthcare as they are calling it.

I know, times are tough and even minor league games can be expensive, but the Cyclones have got you covered thanks to their economic stimulus package that begins on January 20th and runs through January 23rd. Tickets will be “rolled back” to the prices of the Cyclones inaugural season in 2001: $10 Field Box Seats, $8 Box Seats and $5 for Bleacher seats. In addition, if your name is Barack, you will get in free. Those named McCain or Palin get a free bleacher seat and if your name is Joe and you are a plumber you get two free tickets.

So what are you waiting for? I am telling from experience, the Cyclones put on a very fun night. And if that wasn’t enough, you can stop by the original Nathans before or after the game. It’s just down the block, making it totally worth that long train ride out to Coney Island.
