The A's went on to a 6-0 victory...Jair Jurrjens gave up four runs early and the Braves were never able to overcome it, falling to the Cubs, 4-2...The Cubs have been sold to the Ricketts family for $900 million. The purchase also includes Wrigley Field and 25% of their cable network...Mike Jacobs' solo homerun was the difference in the Royals 4-3 win over the Tigers...Kansas City acquired Ryan Freel from the Cubs for a player to be named later...And the Tigers young phenom Rick Porcello will miss his next start...Jarrod Washburn one hit Baltimore, as the Mariners blanked the O's, 5-0...Jason Marquis won his 11th game this season as the Rockies topped the Nats, 1-0...The Giants put Randy Johnson on the DL with a shoulder injury...And then held off the Fish, 5-4...On a day when Josh Hamilton returned to the line up, the Rangers could not contain the Angels, losing 9-4 and falling out of first in the AL West...A quartet of first baseman will take the field for the National League in the Homerun Derby. They are the Cardinals' Albert Pujols, the Phillies' Ryan Howard, the Padres' Adrian Gonzalez and the Brewers' Prince Fielder...One first baseman not participating is Mark Teixeira who refuses to be embarassed at the Derby again. Too bad, I was hoping for a repeat performance of 2005.

Football: New league the UFL is considering signing Michael Vick. Oh yeah, because you're in the position to impose moral standards when going up against the NFL. If that's the case then your games should be shown on JCTV and you should change the name to the CFL (Christian Football League).

So far they have signed Troy Brouwer, Corey Crawford, Ben Eager, Colin Fraser and Aaron Johnson. They also gave defenseman Cam Barker a three year deal, but have failed to sign forward Kris Versteeg.
Nascar: Nascar wants the court to reinstate Jeremy Mayfield's ban...Meanwhile the Chicagoland entry list has been released and Mayfield's name is noticably absent. I don't know why, but I still cannot get enough of this story. I thought by now it would be in Favre/Clemens territory but nope!
