Congratulations Shane Victorino!!!

Baseball: If you couldn't guess from the title of this post, Shane Victorino was elected an All-Star by the fans. (I'd like to say it was due to all of my grandstanding on this blog for the past few days, but I highly doubt that) Congrats also go out to Tigers catcher Brandon Inge on his selection as well...Victorino teammate Jayson Werth hit a homerun in his fourth consecutive game as the Phillies rallied past the Reds, 9-6. Next year Jayson will be an All-Star for sure...Philadelphia is reportedly talking terms with Pedro Martinez. I wonder if a lifetime supply of Ensure will be written into the contract..The Dodgers hammered the Mets, 11-2...New York placed Fernando Martinez on the DL with a knee injury. I wouldn't say the Mets should give up, per say, but seriously, is there anyone left on that team that hasn't been on the DL besides David Wright?...Tim Lincecum lost a bid for a no-hitter in the seventh, settling for his 10th win of the season as the Giants pounded the Padres, 9-3...Speaking of the number 10, that's how many runs the Marlins scored in the eighth as they doubled up the D'backs, 14-7...With the Red Sox falling to the Royals, 8-6, the Yankees moved into a tie for the AL East after completing a sweep of the Twins, 6-4. The win gave the Yankees an undefeated record against Minnesota in 2009...Also completing a sweep were the Rays who topped the Blue Jays, 3-2...The A's will retire Rickey Henderson's number...Sheryl Crow will sing the National Anthem prior to the start of this year's All-Star game. Let's hope this time it's not awful...Apparently tickets to baseball games are too expensive for some fans...Finally, congrats to Joel Hanrahan on picking up his long awaited final win as a Washington National. Joel may have been napping in Philadelphia - where his new team the Pittsburgh Pirates were enjoying an off day- when Miguel Tejada committed an error allowing the Nats to get a walk-off victory, but a win is a win right?
UPDATE: Looks like Jayson Werth won't have to wait until next year to make the All-Star team as he was named as a replacement for injured Mets outfielder Carlos Delgado. Also taking the place of an injured player is the Rangers Nelson Cruz. Congrats to both players.

Basketball: Carlos Boozer could be heading to Chicago...The Clippers have signed #1 pick Blake Griffin.

Football: Donte Stallworth has been released after spending 24 hours in jail for DUI manslaughter. WTF? I think Paris Hilton spent more time in prison than he did...Get well wishes go out to Chargers RB Curtis Brinkley who was shot in Philadelphia...In other legal news, a rape has been reported at the home of Falcons WR Harry Douglas. It appears Douglas was not the perpetrator, however he was hosting a party at the time of the assault...Hennepin County District Judge Gary Larson says that Vikings players Kevin Williams nad Pat Williams cannot be supsended, for now...The NFL has banned in game twittering. Now what will ochocinco do during games? Oh that's right, play football!

Hockey: The Rangers signed winger Ales Kotalik to a three year, $9 million contract...Red Wings forward Jiri Hundler is going to the KHL...The NHL thinks Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes is just screwing everything up.

Nascar: Forget what I wrote yesterday, Kyle Busch still hates Tony Stewart. Oh thank goodness, I don't what kind of world we'd be living in if Busch and Stewart got along let alone were friends...Dale, Jr. wants to race the Indy 500, but first he should work on not crashing out of races in Nascar. Low blow?...Meanwhile Junior's former crew chief Tony Eury, Jr. feels like he let him down...Congrats to Brian Vickers on winning his fifth pole of the season.

Best of the Rest: The Mexico-Panama draw ended in a brawl. Just how I like all of my sporting events to end...Apparently this Phelps kid is not too bad at this swimming thing...James Blake is so totally going to kick Ivo Karlovic's ass in the opening round of the Davis Cup. With a comment like that, I don't get why the rest of the world hates Americans...Tour de France Update: Lance Armstrong is still in second behind some guy not named Lance. Like you care about anything other than the Lance update.
